Super depressing book. Interesting to hear about places in Ledges and around Boone. Writing could have been better and needed some facts checked. Still an interesting read.
Because Ledges had such terrible vocabulary and the plot was not as interesting as it should have been, it took me forever to read so I did not enjoy it. Had there have been more to the story, more to the visual elements and more in the overall picture, I might have liked it. But since the book lacked word economy and didn't feed me into the story as it should have, I give this book two stars.
I would have given it one, but i related to the book in a way which helped me understand some happenings in my life and it helped me get in touch with other things. Other than that, the book pretty much sucked. Somewhat interesting towards the end, but still royally sucked.
The story seemed slow starting out, but overall an enjoyable read. Michelle, a divorced and desperate mother of Ben, Pam and Debi, marries an abusive farmer. The Ledges, while visited several times, a site of a 25 year old tragedy and a geographical reference to the Beal Farm, do not factor in to the story as much as I had hoped. The story has a happy ending.
The font and writing style made it a challenge to read, and at some points I couldn't follow the story jumping from one place/thing/group of people to another. Additionally, it needs a good editor. Typos and grammatical errors were common.

Michael, I have read several of your books and find them to be interesting and captivating. I really enjoy your writing. I rarely read a book twice, but when I saw from your website (www.michaelfrederick82.com ) that Ledges is on Kindle, I just had to download it and read it again!! It is my favorite book that you have written. Thanks so much for allowing me to get lost in the world of your books. “A Fan from the Midwest”
The book was ok. The vocabulary was easy for me since I'm not good at reading. I was able to read the book in one week, due to the rush I had. I also liked how Ledges described how 1959 was like but this also brings a bad thing. I think the author is trying to live his past or someone's and make into a book. Overall I gave it two stars on how it was so boring.
Enjoyed this book..it was about a place near where I grew up, and also mentions the place where I live now. Looking forward to checking out more from this author.
