Teta Engram grew up in the Yukon, surrounded by nature, family and a close-knit community. As a child she longed for city life; as an adult, she reflects back to the simplicity and beauty of nature and, seeing it through new eyes, longs to return. Her poetry takes you there. Inspired by the love of language, she earned a Masters Degree in Education and enjoyed a long career as an English and creative writing teacher. For thirty years, Teta used her poetry to capture the nuances of day to day life and model the beauty and art of writing for her students. She makes sense of her world, relationships and the complexity of school leadership, through her poetic voice.
