“You mean on Monday?”
“Yes. Sorry for the short notice. Call it a sudden impulse.”
“A tech conference?” Toreth asked dubiously.
“Yes. But it shouldn’t be too dull. The conference center looks excellent, even by corporate standards, and it’s in the Alps. Skiing, if you’re interested.
“I’ve never tried it.”
“Dangerous, potentially painful, pointless physical activity. Just your sort of thing.”
“For example,” Warrick continued precisely, “I’ve never seen the attraction in casual sex. Maybe I should take it up.”

“All right. How about I get a kick out of seeing people do things they don’t like to think they want to do?”
“Because I wanted to hurt you.” A slight, sour smile in profile. “I wanted you to know how it feels.”
“Guilt—for fu@king someone else and enjoying it and then for telling you about it and enjoying that, too. And fear, in case you didn’t come back or you’d be angry when you did, which is relief now that you have and you aren’t. I think that just about covers it.”
“I told him I had a non-exclusive relationship.” Warrick looked at him steadily. “And unless you have some news for me, that is precisely what I do have.”
Toreth stared at him, speechless.
(…)”However, I will not apologize for the rest of my life for doing once something that you do with monotonous regularity.”
The shock made him spill out the question. “Was he good?”
“If there is anyone out there who is a better fu@k than you, then I can only pray that I never meet them, because I sincerely doubt that my nervous system would stand the strain.”

„Say it.“
„I’m yours.“
