As a new beader, I looked at several books, and found this one to be one of the most useful for someone new to the craft. The first four chapters are all about the basics: no projects yet. Chapters five through seven introduce specific techniques, with several projects using each one.

Beautiful work

I hope to complete the amulet pouch. I think it'll be beautiful, functional and definitely challenge me, but it will be worth all the time I spend making it.
