At the playground, at the pet store, on a car trip, or at home: Dick, Jane, and Sally always have fun. Will Dick get another dog? Will Sally finally win a game of hide-and-go-seek? And who are Dick and Jane?s favorite friends? With short stories and text from the original Dick and Jane basic readers, this is a perfect chapter book for eager new readers!
I know I shouldn't say that but this book would be debilitating even for a two-year-old. Lovely images but holy crap, I have a headache from reading the same three words over and over and over again.
I "read" this book with my 1st grader and, while it is very simplistic, he has been struggling some to read, so this book has been wonderful at boosting his confidence in his reading skills. He liked that it had "chapters" (there aren't really chapters per se, but lots of little stories, only about 4-5 pages each), so he felt like he was reading a real "big kid" book and not a "baby" book. There are pictures on each page, which he also liked. As he finished reading his last "chapter" tonight, he asked if he could read it again. He's been excited to read every single night with this book and his reading skills have improved, as well as his confidence. I highly recommend this book for first readers.
In this book Dick and Jane and the rest of the kids wanted to have fun, and there was a dog. There was a dad and a mom. And one girl on the slide was scared to go down. This is a chapter book with so many chapters. I liked this book because there was a big family. -by Alexander
Old School, but wonderful word progression in the stories. This book really helped my kids learn to read, and more importantly, really want to read. Lovely illustrations too.
