Can a boy like Richie creep into Joy's heart...Every girl at Cabrillo High has a crush on Richie Brennan-- every girl, that is, except Joy Wilder. Joy can't stand Richie's smug, conceited attitude or his stupid jokes, most of which are aimed directly at her.The worst jokes are the romantic ones; Richie always kids Joy about being madly in love with her. But one day she discovers that he's more serious than she thought. Is Richie really a creep-- or is he someone Joy can love?
My wife received this book as a white elephant gift at an holiday office gift swap. I ended up getting my own copy because it is a guilty pleasure and a fun read. I guess the high drama and silly dialogue helped prepare me for Twilight.
I have to add that I love the fact that the compiled stock photos on the cover look nothing like the kids described in the book. Bril.

This is one of the books I have kept for many years in my collection. I liked the humor in it, and the realistic way in which Joy found Richie annoying. :)
As much as I loved the "Sweet Dreams" romance series, I don't remember liking this one as much as some of the others. As with the other "Sweet Dreams" series that I have reviewed, I can't go into much detail as I haven't read these in almost 30 years. But this book centered around a girl and a boy who don't really get along and somewhere along the way fall in love. All of the books in this series are really good and I would recommend any of them.
Someone posted this on my other GR account and I had a sudden memory jog. Everyone has their favorite Sweet Dreams book; this was mine. There was a copy Home Economics classroom and I remember always sneaking off to read this when I was done cross-stitching or cooking or whatever our lesson was for double period that day. But while I remember loving this book, I don't remember the story anymore! Halp! Can anyone help me track this book down?
This was my favorite book in the late 80's. It's story was nothing special.....two people who always gave each other a hard time secretly liked the other, but oh how I loved it!
I lost this book years ago and found it again through a discontinued book seller. I was so pleased. This book will always hold a special place in my heart!
AWWWW! I read this when I was probably in the 6th grade??? And awwwww! Is this the story where they get stuck in an island somewhere??? This is where chick flicks are made from, and from all those years ago since i last read this, it still makes me gush! Love it!
Of course I did read this back when I was in Junior High, so I don't know if I would like it quite as much anymore. I remember thinking it was really funny in parts.
The nostalgic cover is better than the content. I owned this one when I was a tween and I remember really liking it at the time, but it definitely doesn’t hold up. Joy and her mother have just moved and Joy is struggling both with the move and the fact that her mother has a new younger boyfriend. She meets Ritchie on her first day and takes an instant dislike to him when he makes a smart comment about her name. Cue arguing and over reacting mixed in with the old, a boy is only mean if he likes you trope. (Thank goodness that one seems to be dead nowadays). Clearly I’m nostalgia/hate rereading these as I find them, but what I find jarring reading as an adult is how mature the voice of these kids are in these. And when I say mature, I don’t mean wise, I mean written in the voice of an older person, cheesy outlook and advice. Again, no wonder I had silly ideas about boys and relationships back then with these as a point of reference 😂. I can’t help the nostalgia trip though. I love the covers and the memories of the excitement of obtaining one of these.

~ only read this because i had one book left for my reading goal ~
this book was basically an enemies to lovers story. i only picked this up because it was super short and i feel like the story was really rushed because it was just 134 pages which was enough for this book but not a regular book i feel like but the author wrapped everything up pretty good.
i wouldn’t have picked this up but i need to read a short book, and the story was kind of dragged on even in a little amount of pages and the romance went from nothing to full, so it went from dragged to rushed which was kind of boring to read honestly.
would’ve given this 2 stars but giving it 3 because there was no language or spice at all and i really appreciated that
A quick read with the usual predictable frenemies storyline. Not much stood out except that she fell for this guy (and kissed him) while she already had a boyfriend. Joy Wilder got herself some extra joy.
Enemies-to-lovers, stranded on an island, an accident that caused one to worry about the other, confessing after fighting and ended up making up??? What's not to love?! I enjoyed this book so much. Short and sweet!

This book is the perfect example of "enemies turned into lovers", only that one of the characters didn't really hate the other at all. The book was pretty engaging, although the story felt like it was nothing new and I could predict the end.
Joy is a slightly oblivious, stubborn, popular cheerleader who may or may not be falling for Richie, the boy who has been teasing her all her life. Will this crush on Richie ruin Joy's life or make it infinitely better? Kiss Me, Creep follows these two and how their relationship grows at school and at home. This book was a simple and fun read. It was written in the 80's and I could definitely tell haha. Joy is a sort of annoying main character, but she's also, unfortunately, relatable. Richie was just a confident, know-it-all, regular cocky teenage boy, but I loved it. The couple had cute chemistry, but I did not like how rushed the ending was. I think the ending should have been dragged out more or should have been different in general. Other than that, it was cute and funny!
