Mukohda, Fel, and Sui are finally out of the woods, but only in the literal sense as they stumble once more from misadventure to misadventure with cooking in-between. But no challenge is too challenging for a giant wolf and an overpowered slime! Especially if they’re being fed.
I think the term gallivanting is an apt description of our trio, who bounce around between quests (read: ecological disasters) with nary the barest whit of danger and then lunch is served.
For all his growing renown, in terms of skills Mukohda is basically the cook. All the dirty work is being handled by Fel and Sui, the latter of whom is quickly becoming as overpowered as Fel was to begin with. They kill everything in sight and then ask for seconds, which seems a pretty fair bargain, honestly.
Despite literally just complaining about this sort of story in a different book review, I think this one works because the relationships between the characters are interesting and, if I squint hard enough, it’s also about the joy of a shared meal. Or the endless desire for meat in the fenrir population.
Fel is still the most fun, as his haughty arrogance and bottomless stomach are always good to see on display. The sheer indignation when Mukohda suggests he should get some armour, as if that could possibly be better than Fel’s magic, is a volume highlight.
Fel’s “solution” to a magic resistant monster they encounter and his first experience with soda are also standouts. Between Fel and Sui, who Mukohda dotes on constantly, the group has enough firepower to topple a small government.
And another part of why this book does okay is that it‘s absolutely not taking itself seriously whatsoever. The sheer amount of wholesale destruction is shocking - if this world ever invents environmental impact assessments… well, all three of them are dead meat.
Still, it’s fun to watch the group bounce around and the cooking stuff does really add a little something. It’s always fun to see exactly what Mukohda’s going to come up with next. The way his cooking is becoming legendary is a clever little touch.
3 stars. It is what it is, but even with the novelty worn off it’s still fun to hang out with these goofs and their stomachs. Next time looks like a veer into harem territory that I’m not super excited to see, but we’ll worry about that in a couple months.

Mostly filler like stuff in here granted it is always funny seeing people react to seeing Fenrir around since we also found out that Mukoda got a letter from the nobles saying that they will leave him alone because no one wants to make Fel made, also love Sui evolution and how ridiculous he his getting.

Fel and Sui are the greatest! Makoda is a great main character too. I love that the stakes in this series are pretty low but there’s still excitement.

The karrage in this volume looked really delicious and it had me salivating at the mouth. This manga is for anyone who loves food because all of the food in it looks delicious. It is also super wholesome and the pet slime is really really cute.

If you pay attention to how much they travel you can see the scope of the size of the fantasy nation they live in. Chekhov's Gun is all over the place, if they mention a monster it will get hunted or befriended, if they mention a place its a good chance they will go there.
