Visual Culture provides an invaluable resource of over 30 key statements from a wide range of disciplines, including four editorial essays which place the readings in their historical and theoretical context. Although underpinned by a focus on contemporary cultural theory, this reader puts issues of visual culture and the rhetoric of the image at center stage.
Good selection of relevant texts and key authors on visual culture. The section introductions by the editors did not give me much to be honest, so I focused mostly on the texts themselves. There are some sloppy mistakes in the book when it comes to details and references, also most notably a mistake in reproducing the correct images in Rosalind Krauss article which means you have to look for the original text or other reproductions of the images to understand the point.
