DARKEST DANIEL

Rate this book
This book is about a Glasgow serial killer who kills without remorse; he has no ethics and is an evil narcissist in every way.

It falls within the genre of 'hard-boiled fiction' - written in a fast-paced, unsentimental and tough style of crime writing which, using graphic language, sex and violence, brings a new tone of earthy realism to the field of detective fiction.

It contains scenes of horrific murder and descriptive violence and is definitely not for under-18s. For those of you who enjoy this kind of book, read on and enjoy. Others should move on to something less frightening than Scotland's new serial killer - Darkest Daniel.

Argyll wasn't exactly the murder capital of Scotland, but after the last few weeks, the body count was certainly making it look that way.

Scotland had a serial killer on the loose, but this one was intelligent and one step ahead of the detectives.

Were the detectives the hunters or the hunted?

I met the author of Darkest Daniel by chance on my way to the airport, and I'm so glad I did or I doubt I'd have found out about this self published gold. We got chatting about books, and when he mentioned he had written one himself, I downloaded it as soon as I arrived and devoured it during my 26-hour journey.

I genuinely couldn’t put this book down.
The way Charlie Dempster writes completely immerses you in Daniel’s mind. The story is almost narrated from within his dark and deeply disturbing thoughts, exposing his derogatory feelings toward women, his vulgar inner dialogue, and the chilling extent of his evil nature. I hated him, yet at the same time, I was utterly obsessed with him. I found myself forcing my eyes to stay open just to see what he would do next.

This book is intense, gripping, and impossible to ignore. A true crime/thriller page-turner that will leave you holding your breath long after you’ve finished it.

Please check the trigger warnings before reading. There are many potentially distressing themes throughout the book, so be sure to look into them beforehand.
