In a world much like our own, where dark souls manipulate the very fabrics of society, an ancient evil returns, seeking revenge for his incarceration and reigniting a universal war. Caught in the middle is Caden, an unsuspecting secret agent who possess powers from a past he does not remember, tying him to the war and the evil that is after him. Can Caden recover his memories before the ancient evil taps into his power to dominate, or will restoring his power lead him down the path of evil as well? Caden must make his decision quickly, before his world comes to an end. "A blend of genres. Something different ... Edgy ... New! ... an action-adventure-science fiction-thriller here, with a dose of demons and an inventive, well-conceived premise." -C.J. Cherryh, author "Jason Wilcox in his first attempt has hit a homerun. His combination of plot, imagination and style make this book a sure hit. Exciting fantasy. Intriguing plot. Unexpected twists." -Angela Abderhalden, author of the Mel Addison Mystery Series
JASON WILCOX is a Counselor by trade who loves to write and has been writing for the last thirteen years. He got his Masters in Social Work from Walla Walla University. He lives in southern Idaho where he loves spending his time with his three cute kids, wife, and Dusty a black Great Dane that thinks he’s a lap dog.
There were a lot of things about this book that I really liked. The Dark Souls were very interesting. The fact that it's hard to tell who the "good guys" are. The dead time/cells of time concept. These things were all great qualities of the book. At the same time, the book is self published and could use a good editor at parts. The rules of the magical world need to be better defined. And for some reason the fact that the bad guys in his company wanted to overthrow the government because of corruptness seemed really unnecessary and generally cliche.
Overall I recommend this book. Let's hope it gets picked up by a real publisher, and with some editing this can be a really fine piece of fiction.

I gave up on this one...Most important factor for me (as a former freelance copy editor) was the VERY poor editing job. I'm sorry, but just using spellcheck doesn't cut it! An author should know the difference between accept/except, than/then, threw/through...The really abysmal spelling & grammar just made it impossible for me to even attempt to get invested. As far as the story goes, it seemed to have all the proper "bells & whistles" of a standard fantasy novel, but it didn't seem to be cohesive. An all-around disappointment, which is too bad--I met the author, and he seemed like a really nice, sincere guy.
Thought it was a great book! My wife and a few of my kids read it and loved it as well. My teenage son (14yrs) cannot wait until the 2nd book comes out. He even got in trouble from me because he took the book to school so he could finish it there.
It's a refreshing book because it is so diverse. It has fantasy, action, supsense, and a love story all mixed in to create a hard to put down book once you get started. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
