Her courage and strength enabled her to help her husband create a new country. She never fired a gun, but her pen was a weapon that helped win freedom for her country--and herself.

I loved reading this aloud to my children for history. We learned a lot about the time period from the perspective of someone who was there and I loved her example as a strong woman in a hard situation and a hard time in history.
