Darby O’Rielly may look like a shy, quiet bookstore owner who waits up at night to make sure her fun loving little sister Rowan makes it home. But that would be a bad assumption if you intend to threaten her family and loved ones. If the deadly magic this witch possesses is unleashed, the whole neighborhood better watch out.
When two handsome brothers move next door, love blooms. Devon and Blake aren’t just hot, they’re vampires hunted by a man with unlimited wealth and vengeance.
With these two atypical couples together, mayhem ensues. Darby is forced to use her new-found magic when hunters snatch Rowan to lure the brothers to their demise. A wreckless decision by the enemy transforms Rowan into a werewolf, throwing her new love Blake into a downward spiral. Werewolf terrors from childhood paralyze his judgment and send him packing, leading Rowan into the arms of a wolf named Dean who helps ease her into the new life she’s forced to embrace.
T. Lynne Tolles can be found most days, juggling one of two cat muses and a laptop, tripping over a Newfoundland puppy and washing a never-ending pile of laundry. When life doesn’t get in the way, she writes sweet paranormal romances for new adults. Her passion for witches, ghosts, and vampires together with a light-hearted wit are reflected in her loveable characters and the adventures of mystery they unravel to find their happily ever after.
I recently won my very own signed copy of Blood of a Werewolf by T. Lynne Tolles in a giveaway hosted through GoodReads. I was really excited to win a book that actually sounded interesting! I sat down and began my journey with Darby O'Reilly last night and was wrapped up in that journey from cover to cover. The characters in this book are well written and have strong personalities which I love to find in books. I felt instantly connected with Darby and her sister Rowan who are witches in the story. I love that this book has aspects of magic through out it and it really made my pagan heart love this book that much more. The perfect amounts of love, romance, and flirtation are swirled through out the perfect amounts of hate, anger, and frustration to create this beautifully written book. My only issue with this book isn't as much of an issue with the book as it is then just a pet peeve of mine, and that comes in the form of grammatical errors. However, this pet peeve of mine has nothing to do with how wonderfully written this book is as grammatical errors are to be expected as they are often overlooked during certain editing stages. I would definitely suggest this book to all of those book lovers out there who are looking for a good vampire love story, sprinkled with magic! It was truly a pleasure for me to read and I will definitely be reading the next books in the series as I am excited as to what happens next! Great job T. Lynne Tolles! Thank you so much for sharing your written words with us!
I enjoyed Darby and Devon's story Blood of a Werewolf The story has an interesting twist with the werewolf theme. The sex and violence were mild enough that it would make a great teen read. It was a great 1st book to a new series. I'll definitely put the next book in by to-be read slot
The book starts off ok. The writing is simple but tolerable. Then our lead character (I won't use actual literary terminology, this book doesn't deserve it) meets Mr. Wonderful and the writing sets course 1-8-0 after that. It's not even that it becomes syrupy or drippy, which it does, the writing decays into some awful Twilight ripoff with a sprig of "witchcraft" thrown in.
Thanks to the author for providing me with this free copy.
This I admit isn't the best book I've ever read but it was good. It had certain aspects and qualities that kept you in anticipation and I was never bored. It was quite refreshing actually because I haven't read a story involving vampires and werewolves like this.
I would say that it's definitely worth a look and it was an enjoyable read!
Darby and Rowen are sisters and witches. Darby is the older responsbile sister and owns an occult bookstore. Rowen is a student and a bit of a scatterbrain. Their next door neighbors are Devon and Blake, vampires. Devon is the oldest and both are software developers. Harry is Darby's cat, he is robust (we don't say fat) and a cat burglar. Dean Wolfe is, well, a werewolf. With such a caste of characters you know this isn't going to be a boring book and it's not. There is humor, how can there not be, there is a cat that is a cat burglar. There is action along with a very bad bad guy and a grumpy werewolf. There is romance and a little bit of sex, which is not graphic but more sweet. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next to find out what's in store for all our caste of characters.
Darby is your every- day girl that works at her own bookstore and enjoys her evenings. As usual, her sister Rowena has invited her out and never shows. But as luck would have it, Darby meets the dashing Devon. Devon and Darby both hold a secret. Will their secret bring them together or pull them apart? The characters are well written in this story and I enjoyed reading about them and getting to know them. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Tolles. I plan on following the series.
I don't often write reviews, but holy crap please don't waste your time reading this. I couldn't even finish it and that rarely happens. The dialogue was so horrible. It was like cliché, but not the guilty pleasure kind. I felt like instead of conveying something, the author would awkwardly have the character explain it. When she first meets the guy, too, she constantly keeps repeating, it's like he can read my mind, omg his facial expressions!!!! Honestly, I think we would have caught on. If I could give it less than 1 star I would.
I love this 1st book! It really caught my attention the body of the book and the cover. The concept of the book is somewhat like Twilight if your into the Twilight saga you'll love this book. I could see I am going to love love the other books. I'm aleady reading book to 2 and I am also enjoying this one...looks like it will keep getting better and better.
The O'Rielly sisters Darby & Rowan live in a small town were they have lived all of their lives. They live in the house that was inherited to them when their parents died a few years ago. They are from a long line of witches. The girls have never practiced their gift but, they do carry their family book with them. Darby owns a book store and all though the sister's live together they hardly ever see each other mainly because Rowan finds it a bit hard to keep appointments. She makes plans to meet up with Darby at a local bar but, she never makes it. Rowan is more like the wild child and Darby always keeps her ground and tries very hard to keep her sister grounded but, its kinda hard for her. They get along very well and they love each other no matter what.
Darby meets Devon who somehow moved right next door to the girls without her even noticing it. Devon is tall and very handsome and has these eyes that can make you melt. Devon is at Paddy's the local pub that Rowan and Darby are suppose to meet at. Darby is waiting for Rowan like usual but, she does not show instead Darby has a deep conversation with Devon. They talk about things they have not really shared with anyone else. You could say it was love at first sight for them. Devon was head over heals for Darby as soon as he saw her. Devon also has a younger brother named Blake. Blake is taller than Devon and he is just like Rowan Darby's sister...a little on the wild side. These two brothers are not just handsome but, they are born vampires of royal blood.
Rowan never meet up with her sister at the pub because she has also found someone she connected with from the start. When it was time to meet each others new mates they realized they were each involved with each others sibling which was cool because they did not have to hid there "family secret" from each other as a matter of fact it brought them closer and they were able to experience things together and help each other out at the same time. The O'Rielly sister's and the Bloomington brothers are great/perfect matches for each other.
Terrence Paine is out on the hunt for the brothers (Devon & Blake) he killed their parents when the boys were younger because the boys father did not save Mr. Paine's son. Terrence vowed that he will kill the boys just as he did their parents. He sent a Van Helsing "type" kill the brothers. When Darby faces herself with this situation and Devon at her feet hurt something happens to her that has never happened before. She builds some kind of force that protects herself and Devon but, send the Van Helsing look alike flying he hits a tree and is killed by this impact. After this they start working on helping Darby with her powers and start a plan to get back at Terrence Paine. While trying to set their plan against Terrence Paine Rowan is kidnapped by another one of Terrence's men. They take her to him and Terrence then injects her with werewolf blood (thinking she is a vampire) he assumes that both bloods will fight against each other in side her body and she will die. The only thing is that Rowan is not a vampire she is a witch and by injecting her with the werewolf blood it just turns her into a werewolf. Blake is scared of what Rowan has become only because he is not correctly informed of the werewolf line just as people are not fully informed of the vampire life. If you would like to know more you must read Blood of a Werewolf!
Book 1 of 4 is amazing! I could only imagine how the others will be.

3 1/2 STARS In the small California town of Olijone, two sisters Darby and Rowan share a home left to them by their deceased parents. Their family has kept hidden that the girls are ancestral witches to have them ‘fit into’ the community. The sisters live quiet lives, Darby owns a bookstore that specializes in rare books. Because their family wanted to have them be in a normal existence the girls were never taught how to use their powers. They only found out the truth by finding some books and a diary
While gardening, Darby notices a young man next door watching her. New neighbors have moved in. Devon and Blake are very handsome and the brothers do free lance computer work. Darby catches the eye of older brother Devon and Rowan and Blake match up. The brothers hide a secret from the sisters. They are ‘born vampires’. A bitter man, who has killed their parents has sent Vampire Hunters after the brothers. They are trying to keep one step ahead of these assassins. They have barely escaped the hunters whose agenda is to kill them. The hunters have kidnapped Rowan to use as bait and have injected her with the blood of a werewolf. The journey from normal couples to powerful witch, angry vampires and a werewolf is one that plagues the sisters and brothers. How will they handle the new loves, new power, old adversary and a full moon?
The book is fast paced, easy reading, and has good humor and a fun storyline. The fact that the characters aren’t in High School can appeal to all generations, while parents will love the less is more on the sex for their young teens.
My constructive thoughts to the story are two fold.
One, when Darby uses her powers for the first time to protect her new boyfriend, she accidentally kills the first hunter with magic. For someone who has been brought up in an everyday environment and has never hurt anyone, I would imagine she would have been upset or would have shown some kind of remorse. I felt this issue was glossed over, barely mentioned and I think more should have been written about it. It's a very important part of the book.
Secondly, there is too much detail written about day to day things when it needed more action. This is T Lynne Tolles first book and we can only add our thoughts as constructive points. I enjoyed the book and the ending left me scrambling for the next in the series, Blood Moon. I'm sure I'll be up late reading Book 2 in the series to see how things continue with Rowen and Blake. I can see this becoming a favorite series for many.

Darby is a kind, intelligent, level-headed young woman who enjoys her peaceful, ordinary existence and loves her younger sister Rowan with her whole heart. Rowan is an energetic whirlwind who is somewhat scatter-brained and a trouble magnet. Since the death of their parents several years ago the two sisters rely on each other. They know that they are descended from a long line of witches because they found some old books and a diary. However, neither has ever shown any particular gifts in that area.
Devon and his younger brother are vampires who have just moved into the house next door. Devon is immediately enamored of the lovely Darby and Blake is similarly drawn to Rowan. At first the girls have no idea that the guys are vampires. It is only after a frightening and almost deadly encounter, where Darby unexpectedly finds she has special powers that allow her to repel the attacker, that the two young women learn the truth about their handsome boyfriends. The foursome face peril together, learns some significant lessons of love and loss, and must make some tough decisions.
I enjoyed this fun paranormal romantic tale. Written in an easy conversational style, it was at times quite humorous. I thought the pacing of the story was good. This story is very light on the sex – it is only implied in a few places. Parents should feel quite comfortable letting their teenage children read this book. I absolutely adored the “manly” feline, Harry. There was an excellent sense of suspense in the latter half of the book and I became invested in discovering if the couples were meant to be together or if hatred and bigotry would tear Rowan and Blake apart. This is the first book in a series by this author. I will be reading the next book, Blood Moon, within days where I am hoping the brooding, sexy Dean Wolfe – Rowan’s mentor and friend - will show his amorous side. If you enjoy books with witches, vampires and werewolves living secretly within our society you should read this one.
Blood of a Werewolf by T. Lynne Tolles is an interesting paranormal tale about a pair of witch sisters and a pair a vampire brothers. Darby O'Reilly is a responsible and model citizen. She is smart, loving and an ideal older sister. Rowan is fun loving, adventurous and spontaneous. Darby and Rowan are descended from a long line of witches. However they don't take it too seriously. That is until the house next door gets rented by two mysterious strangers. Devon and Blake are always on the move. They are looking for a normal life. Things get heated up when they meet the O'Reilly sisters. Complications ensue when Blake is attacked by a vampire hunter. The four of them vow to solve the mystery as to why they're being hunted. However when Rowan is kidnapped things get crazy and relationships get tested. The storyline in Blood of a Werewolf is fast paced and full of adventure. Themes such as loyalty, family and forgiveness are woven through out the novel. I really enjoyed the storyline in this book. The characters in this book are great. Both sets of siblings are stereotypical. Darby and Devon are the oldest and therefore more responsible while Rowan and Blake are the youngest and more carefree. My favorite character is Darby. She is steadfast and loyal. I enjoyed Rowan's storyline the best. I thought it was an interesting turn of events when Rowan was injected with Werewolf blood and everything that followed after. I definitely want to check out the next book in this series especially since there is a cliffhanger at the end of this novel. Overall I like this book. I'm interested in seeing where T. Lynne Tolles takes this story and what happens with the characters.
I thought this book was going to be more actiony. In fact, there is little action even when Darcys sister gets kidnapped.
Darby is our main female character, she along with her sister are part of a very powerful witch family. However, there were many things i found wrong with the witchcraft in this book, for one Darcy tells Devon (our main guy..) shes a witch, 5 minutes after meeting him! Any true witch would not do this, the guy could be a hunter, or bible thumper for all she knew. Also, Darby just kind of comes into her power, and even then its sparse and rather unbelieveable.
The romance? Its sickly sweet. Darby and Devon hit it off immediantly, he is also kind of stalkerish after thier first date is canceled, he sends her gifts every day afterwards for a week. Thats, rather creepy but Darby eats it up. Thier love is so cavity induceing i felt myself cringeing. Then Rowan starts dateing Devons brother Blake, I couldnt help but wonder how that would play out since eventually Devon and Darby get engaged.. how would BLake and Rowan marry if they wanted to?
I liked the addition of the werewolf aspect though and I loved Dean. I was very happy when he came and mixed everything up. The writing style was OK, nothing spectacular but it gave imagery. The book is also clean which i appreciated, no over-sexual scenes, no swearing. This book was not for me really, while i enjoyed the beggining and parts with Dean, it was a mish-mash of ups and downs. However,if you enjoy romances and a bit of action/mystery, you may like it.
I am on a current book binge of supernatural books right now. When the author sent me this book to review, it fell in line with my current reading taste for the moment. After reading the first few chapters, I thought I might actually enjoy this book even though it is a little reminiscent of Vampire Diaries and Twilight combined together.
The book starts out fairly fun and carefree with Darby arriving home and watering her garden. When she notices her new neighbor staring from his front porch at her while dancing in the water, She is quickly embarrassed and intrigued. She is embarrassed by him witnessing her dancing, but intrigued at his beauty and sudden appearance. They quickly connect at the local hang out by having a great conversation that lasts for hours. I really liked Devon, but it kind of went downhill after this chapter.
It seemed that once the two characters were established, the rest of the characters were put on the back burner even though they are suppose to be major players of the book. I couldn't warm up to Blake, even during his funny moments, and Darby's sister was just as bad. There were some inconsistency in the story as well and that bugs me. The story could have been so much better, but it felt rushed and unbelievable to the point that I was rolling my eyes at times.
If you are looking for a read to pass the time, and don't mind inconsistencies, then you might enjoy it for a one time read. Other than that, I would give this book a pass for now.
Darby and her sister Rowena are descended from witches. Neither has followed the family tradition and appear interested in only practicing the most mundane of the wiccan arts; tarot and runes plus running an occult bookshop. Their comfortable lives are turned upside down by the arrival of brothers Devon and Blake who have paranormal traits of their own.
This is one of the most frustrating stories I have read in a long time! The plot is extremely promising - in fact equal to any of the top writers of paranormal romance. But the narrative had me grinding my teeth throughout. The conversation between the main characters was so boring at times, and so repetative, I missed out vast tracts of text in order to get on with the story. And what is it with giving directions in a novel (e.g. to the aquarium otters)? really is this necessary? It's as if the writer needs to fill a few pages but can't think of anything useful to deepen and enrich the plot. I decided to persevere because I had bought the bloomin' thing. Then 3/4 of the way through, Rowena takes the limelight from her sister and suddenly things become more interesting!
I am not keen on the style of writing in this book; the characters are sketchy at best. There seems to be a lack of depth to their emotions and their responses are immature. If I was as gushy with my sister as Darby and her sister twitter on at each other, she would have me locked up. But I DO like the plot - Rowena will hopefully shine in the second book, so I will give it a go, thanks to the cliff hanger of this book!
Darby O'Rielly, the main female character and Rowan, her sister, came from witch family but never taught how to use their power.
Devon Bloomington, the main male character and Blake, his younger brother, are vampires who have just moved into the house next door.
Devon is immediatelly drawn to Darby and Blake is drawn to Rowan. Terrence Paine, a man who kill Devon and Blake's parents, hunted the boys and sent a Van Helsing "type" kill the boys. Darby use her power to protect the boys, but killed the Van Helsing guy in the process.
After that, they start plan to get back at Terrance Paine and working on darby's power. But, Paine's man kidnapped Rowan and inject her with werewolf's blood. Finally, Darby and the boys can find Rowan. But, there's a new problem because the werewolf's blood would turn Rowan into werewolf and Blake, who isn't correctly informed about the werewolf, is scared of what Rowan has become. If you want to know more about their journey, you have to read Blood of a Werewolf.
I enjoy this first book of blood series. There are many humor and sweet moment in this story. This story is very light on the sex or swearing. The ending would make us curious what would happen to Rowan and Blake in the next book.
If you enjoy books with witches, vampires or werewolves, you should definitely read this book.
Darby and Rowan O'Rielly are sister witches from a long line of ancestral witches. They both are very powerful, but do not yet know how to wield their powers. Soon they will learn when Rowan is kidnapped and injected with werewolf serum. Darby must do everything in her power to rescue her sister from harms way. Lucky for Darby and Rowan that both of their very gorgeous boyfriends are very powerful vampires, and are both are aiding Darby in catching Rowan's kidnappers. Will they be able to save Rowan before she turns into a werewolf from the injected with werewolf serum, or will they be too late to save her from possible death?
Vampire and Witch unite together in this action packed book full of twists and turns that will have your heart beating non stop with excitement. This book had me smiling all the way through it. Wonderfully written, and the romance and excitement is blended perfectly in this great book.

Its great how I am discovering some great paranormal romance novels this year. Its funny how a year ago, I never thought I would read this genre.
Blood of a Werewolf, the first in the Blood Series by T.Lynne Tolles is a great book for all PNR lovers with a great plot and fantastic characters. The plot is fast-paced, engaging and action packed. There's something happening at every page.
I really liked Darby. She's strong and competent , at the same time she has her weak moments which makes her more real and easier to connect with. There were many humorous moments too which adds to the overall enjoyment of the book. Moreover I have always had a fascination with witches. This makes this book more compelling to me.
The romance is sweet, yet not over-the-top. I look forward to further developments between Devon and Darby.
Blood of a Werewolf is a fun and exciting read with some great plot twists to keep you awake at night.
I thought I had overdosed on vampire novels...but apparently that's not true.
Overall: Exciting and engrossing!
Recommended? Yes! To all those who can't seem to get enough of vampires and werewolves.
I was recently given a free copy of Blood of a Werewolf by T. Lynne Tolles and asked to read and give a review.
The book is certainly enjoyable - It is the story of two sisters, Darby and Rowan, who come from a long line of witches but they have never really used their powers since their family was not interested in the world knowing who they were. These two sisters meet and connect with two Vampire brothers who are being pursued by a man who is seeking revenge on them for a decision their father made.
During the weeks these four people are connected there is love, trauma, many hospital visits, a few plane rides, and a lot of drama.
The story moves along at a brisk pace and never leaves you waiting for something to happen.
The author does a good job writing dialogue without it sounding forced. My only criticism would be when there is a conversation taking place that conversation in reality would only take three, maybe four, minutes but in the story it would be enough time for someone to drive from one location to another. This seemed a bit difficult to believe....
The ending leaves a major cliff hanger - just be prepared to look for the second book of the series...
This book was one that on the surface should have sent me into happiness spasms. I just did not connect with these characters and I think it was a generational thing. I may have had an easier time if I had more insight into Devon and Blake. The story of the two witch sisters and the two vampire brothers was fast paced, had snippets of humor and some memorable secondary characters. I did wonder a time or two if Devon knew Edward or maybe the Salvatore brothers. This is definitely geared towards a mature YA crowd. If I was a fan of that genre, I would have loved this book. I did enjoy Blood of a Werewolf, I just had to adjust my mindset, a LOT. The romantic content was sweet and not something I would hide from most tween girls (unlike most of my reading material). The story itself was unique and full of magic, mythical beings and would probably make an excellent TV series. Not Grimm or Walking Dead good, but definitely Vampire Diaries competition.
This book seemed to have an excellent plot line for a fun, likeable read. A little bit of Charmed, a little bit of Twilight, how could you go wrong? The author states that she wrote the book in 3 weeks, and I believe it. The story moves along at a lightning pace - giving the reader no time at all to get to know, like, hate, or cheer for the characters. Instead, the author actually TELLS you how to feel about every moment that occurs, leaving very little room for imagination or connection with the storyline. For me, it was just a disappointment. I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it.
This was my very first read by T. Lynne Tolles and I really enjoyed it. Paranormal Romance is my fav. This book had all the things I love....Vampires, Werewolves and Witches! Sisters Darby & Rowan O'Rielly are witches and find they have a pair of sexy vampire brothers for neighbors. When a bounty hunter of sorts shows up to kill the brothers, Devon & Blake Bloomington.....that's when all the action starts! What follows is a wild ride of mystery, suspense and romance. Hot hunky werewolf Dean joins this crazy party later in the book. The ending sure through me for a loop and now can't wait to read more in this series!
I loved this book. It grabbed me from the first page. Darby is a strong lead character that takes charge in helping protect Devon and Blake. She and her sister, Rowen, go through many self discoveries and have to deal with life changing issues. This book leaves me wanting more. I'm on to the second in the series. T. Lynne Tolles created a wonderful series with engaging characters. I look forward to seeing how the characters adapt and where their next journey will take them. Highly recommended read!
I gave this book 4 stars because some places seemed a bit to wordy in some places and I like to figure things out on my own without having them explained to much, BUT it was a great story. Really liked the drama towards the end of the book and cant wait to read the second to see if forgiveness will happen or if its just to hard to go back. I'm of course all for the latter because my feelings were hurt just like the characters. So yes onward with book 2. GO DEAN!!
This was a good book but some of chapters were so boring and it didn't make sense. Its just that both person saying that "Oh, I am a vampire. Oh, I am a witch! Lets Make Out!!" When I fist read that, I was like "What the Hell?" Even though those chapters were bad, the rest of the story was pretty good.
If you are a fan of Supernatural then this is the series for you. I really liked the chemistry all the characters have together and the author speeds the story right along. There are a few conversations that were a bit hard to keep up with, but that's just the authors writing style. I couldn't find anything in the story I didn't like, with the exception that it ended to quickly!
Only read about 5 chapters and I'm really surprised I got that far. The main characters are just annoying. I hated her personality her perceptive and just the way she was written usually it takes a lot for me to really not enjoy a book but this was just one of them I personally wouldn't waste my time on this one but everyone has there own opinion and this is just mine.
It was an interesting story. I liked the witches/vampire story and Darby and Devon. It got kind of weird with the werewolf blood and then sort of fizzled out. I think the ending could have been better.
Read this in ebook format. LOADS of grammar and spelling mistakes that became distracting. But the story was interesting enought to make me want to read the next one. Really really needs to be properly edited. The misuse of apostrophes drove me crazy!
I had to stop reading about 1/2 way through this book the first time. I recently picked it up again to try and make ot through but just couldnt do it! The story just wouldnt hold my attention the characters were weak and the dialog was aweful.
