Natalia has developed an allergy to the very technology that enabled her to be a Relay. Forced to resigned from a job that would cost her her life, she is sent to Solray, a low tech planet who's inhabitants have the ability to heal her completely. A single woman on Solray isn't single for long, and when the Storm Set eagle shifters show an interest in her, Natalia knows the uncomfortable feeling of being prey. Thobin, Rosh and Apdel are linked mind to mind, talent to talent. A woman who brings out the predatory and protective instinct in all three is a woman worth pursuing, and they are not above using her new familiar to work their way into her thoughts and dreams.
A short quick read. Another story about a Terran having an allergy to electronics and needing to live in a low tech world. A world of bird shape shifters.
It was awkward how Tal is with a bird of shape shifters and her cousin is with a cat shape shifters. Imagining every people running for their lives after scenting cat in Aster’s mate was just hilarious.
To be honest after such a long rest of reading Terran times that I now sometimes get confused with the vast characters and world building. Still, I did enjoy the story.
For me this kinda had a star trek borg feel to it. It is usually hard to get into a book that is heavy on the techno side because it makes it hard to believe. This one was the exception. She was an AWESOME leading lady. I will say it took me a bit to get the whole little brother thing, but when I did I liked it. It was a little different on the whole shifter world. This is also my first book reading about bird shifters. Honestly that never peeked my interest before but they way this was written was really good and easy to sink into.
The world was a little funny at times as well. I would tell you why but that would spoil it.
I try not to call out typos in books too often, because I know they can happen, even with the most thorough of editing. But let me draw your attention to the first half of this blurb:
"Natalia has developed an allergy to the very technology that enabled her to be a Relay. Forced to resigned from a job that would cost her her life, she is sent to Solray, a low tech planet who's inhabitants have the ability to heal her completely."
Those typos in the blurb? Symptomatic of the entire book. Disappointing and distracting. I'm sorry for the author :(
