She thought she had a life until being hunted shows her she s never really lived.
Savage Australia, Book 2
Jacqueline Huddart has spent her entire adult life on the run. Not from the law, or even a jealous lover. From herself and what she is. That strategy works for her until a funeral demands she return to home ground, and her best friend disappears. Finding Delainie means Jackie must confront the truth and accept the help of a mysterious, sexy-as-sin Texan.
Marshall Rourke isn t the only one flying under the radar. He s on an off-the-grid quest to track down a rogue ex-partner who hunts paranormal beings for the joy of the kill. Convincing the unexpectedly feisty Jackie to trust him isn t easy, but there s no better way to lure the hunter into the open than to dangle as unique a target as Jackie the last Tasmanian Tiger shifter in existence.
Trouble is, Marshall hadn t counted on Jackie s brutal right cross. Or the fact that her simmering sexuality calls to his inner wolf on every imaginable level. And that the killer is about to use their desire to add them both to his trophy case This title contains the explicit sex out in the bush, wild shifter sex in an abandoned shack, passionate sex in a hotel shower. Plus a Texan hero with a very big secret, an Australian heroine with an even bigger one, a significant amount of violence and as always, Australian sarcasm."
Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.
When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.
Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.
And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!
Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.
I fell in love with Lexxie's books several years ago then got caught up in a few other authors and rediscovered her again last year. I've been working my way through her booklist and have yet to find one I haven't loved. I love the shifter books. She makes me believe I'm part of the story. I know these are fiction but what if there really are shifters among us. Her stories have more than the same old wolves, dragons, and such that we readers have come to expect.
I bought this book months ago because the hero is blond- I didn't expect too much of it, and was wrong again. This is the best shape-shifter story I read so far, and I read some. The author manages to combine human and animal side in a unique way, very fascinating to read. The sex is delicious. The action-plot satisfying. The language is beautiful, emotional, authentic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I will absolutely read more of Couper's books.
Story is great but the 'sex scenes', although hot and steamy left me reading through them faster than they should be read just to get back to the story! Loved the book, will be reading more of Lexxie!
