Admittedly I only have a cursory knowledge of the Indus Civilisation, but as someone interested in the magico-religious traditions of the ancient world, this book was fantastic. It’s replete with an entire catalogue of adorable looking figurines, with the catalogue taking up the lion’s share of the book. It’s a pretty fast read and can be consumed within a few hours.

I really love the figurines. They kind of resemble schematised bird people to me, which is weirdly cute. I love the ornate decorations many had and the variety of hairstyles portrayed. It really shows how the individual may have decorated themselves, through hairstyles, bangles, or rosette headdresses.
