“How did you find me?”
“I just listened for the sound of complete and utter betrayal and followed that.”

Tangled is my favorite Disney movie ever!
Flynn Rider is probably the man who started my crushes on thieves (also he is so obsessed with his nose and so am I) and I still love him so much 💛

I’ve read poorly written and trashy Tangled fan fiction that was better then this flaming piece of crap.

(okay, maybe it’s not THAT bad, but I’m not in the mood to be nice and I need to rant plus it’s pretty freaking close, so there you have it)

How in the heck did this ever get published?!?!

I get it’s middle grade and those books tend to have an unhealthy amount of excessive telling and baldly stating the obvious (like seriously kids aren’t dumb stop doing this), but this book abused the privilege to the point of me rolling my eyes out of their sockets and wanting to fling the book across the room out of sheer frustration.

(I’m seriously seeing why I only ever read this book once before this reread…)

And DON’T get me started on all the movie inaccuracies! I get this is a novelization of the movie and some lines might be slightly different but COME ON! So many lines and even scenes were just so ridiculously inaccurate or stripped characters of their agency so much I nearly DID fling the book except for the fact that I was reading in my kitchen and there’s glass in there I didn’t want to break and then clean up. This THING (because I’m being generous calling it a book at this point) even tried to horribly girl bossify Rapunzel! She’s already awesome, she doesn’t need this crap pushed on her, get out of here!

So why not a one star? (good question) I’m kidding, the only reason this crime against Tangled fans got a second star was because there where genuinely several good, well written lines I quite liked, the cover’s pretty, and the interior formatting is cute.

That’s it.

I wouldn’t recommend this piece of crap AT ALL—if you want a good and mostly accurate novelization of the movie read the Tangled manga. I’m serious, it’s the closest GOOD novelization of a movie I’ve ever read, not to mention the art’s super cute, highly recommend it!

‼️Content‼️

This book was so vague on everything that I don’t feel as of there was any to note, so all I can say is if you’ve watched the movie it’s the exact same stuff but watered down so much you can’t even bother to bat an eye at it. But the book’s not worth reading anyways so I think you’re good. 😉

This is 5 stars solely because I love “Tangled” so much. My probably only critique is the dialogue sometimes didn’t match from the movie, and as someone who knows that movie like the back of my hand, that was kinda annoying. I read this book just to read a book exactly like the movie and it was so sweet and you just can’t go wrong with a Disney movie/book!

Out of all the Disney Junior Novelization books I've read so far (and it hasn't been a lot), this one was my least favorite :( Which is weird because I love this movie so much. But I wasn't a big fan of some of the changes and the ending felt super rushed, especially because I know how unrushed it really is. At least it was decently written.

Oh well, you can't win them all.

This book was the exact same as the movie. It had no special dialoged that was in the junior novel only. I would recommend this to someone that wants to not watch the movie but see it again. Thanks for taking the time to read m review.

In changing the story of Rapunzel, I'm confused why Disney would choose to have a thief replace the prince.

Rating: 4.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this story and the continuations. They are a lot of fun, and now that I have the foundation, it makes so much more sense. Tangled, written by Irene Trimble, has become a huge favorite among children of all ages, big and small. Referred to me by my niece stating it was her very favorite book. Now I know more of the story, it is really enjoyable.

A mere drop of sunlight drops from the sky and produces the most beautiful flower, one that has quite amazing healing powers. An older woman named Gothel is able to use it to keep her youth. Hundreds of years later, soldiers from the kingdom of Corona used it to save their very sick queen who is pregnant. Her child is born, a lovely daughter named Rapunzel. This young child keeps the flower's magic in her own powers. The mean Gothel decides to kidnap Rapunzel and put her in a hidden castle tower, using her powers very selfishly.

It is Rapunzel's 18th birthday, and as previously, she is so curious about the lights that are out. Gothel won't let her even though she is so curious. Flynn Ryder steals Rapunzel's intended crown from the palace and he too takes solace in the castle. Their wonderful and magical horse named Maximus (love the name) takes good care of Rapunzel, as she knocks Flynn out and hides him in a closet. For her birthday she asks Gothel for some new paints, which she has become very artistic and talented.

They stop at the "Snuggly Duckling Pub." and some mean dudes try to capture Flynn, but Rapunzel manipulates them to reveal their better side. Royal guests arrive, these dudes help Rapunzel and Flynn to escape. Rapunzel uses her magic hair to reveal an unexpected exit at the bottom of the flooded cave. I've heard the name Eugene, but until Flynn reveals his true name Eugene Fitzherbert, NOW I KNOW WHO HE IS!!! Gothel gives Rapunzel Flynn's satchel to test her loyalty.

Sadly, Eugene is arrested, but wonderful Maximus and the pub guys help them escape. Something she didn't understand is she realizes she has unknowingly incorporated the kingdom's standard, a golden sun into her special artwork all thru her life. She figures out that she is the "lost Princess" she really rebels against Gothel. She is so mean she stabs Eugene, and Rapunzel is so nice she promises she will share her healing hair with Gothel if she can heal Eugene. Her hair is cut off, and it turns from golden to ugly brown. Gothel suddenly turns very old and turns into dust. YEA!!

Eugene dies in Rapunzel's arms. Mourning him, she sheds one tear which still has healing powers in it from the flower. It revives him. Returning to Corona, she is reunited with her parents, then she and Eugene eventually get married.

Good story. Good clean, sweet, charming story. Seriously recommend. Story lasts about 2 1/2 hours.

What young girl didn’t dream of having long hair? I know I certainly did. 70ft of hair might be pushing it though. The film/novelization shows Rapunzel brushing it, but never mentions having to wash it. Can you imagine how often it would clog the drain?

Tangled is one of my favourite Disney films of recent years, and this junior novelization is really good. The author manages to cover the multiple musical interludes seamlessly, which is always an issue with novelizations.

The Disney novelizations stock to certain authors to make the film come alive on the page, and Irene Trimble has done a great job of this. She has also done the novelizations for Brave, The Incredibles, Wreck It Ralph, and Meet The Robinson’s, amongst others.

While you won’t find any significant changes from screen to page (additional scenes/dialogue etc), these are certainly great short books for a cosy afternoon off work, or if you’re desperately trying to make your Goodreads target before the end of the year.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i think that this book did its purpose well of making the movie into a book. it throughly explained the story without keeping in details that were not necessary. the author added details that were not in the movie but made sense with the book though not too often. this one felt a lot more complete compared to the turning red book. also i think this story just lends itself to book form better. it felt like the disneyfied, short, kid version of the fantasy books i usually enjoy.

I know it’s a junior novelization, but it’s still way too superficial. It adds nothing to the movie, and barely (if at all) makes it justice. It’s a quick read, so feel free to give it a try, but I’d recommend just watching the movie again.

A great adaptation to the original Rupunzel story. This version is certainly a lot better than the original (in my opinion anyway)

I read this six times when I was ten years old. Considering I had the attention span of a fruit fly, it was a pretty good read--for a kid, of course.

Accidentally unmuted on a zoom and had this blaring out at full volume for all of a whole minute. I’m glad it was Tangled. This gave all the Disney feels!!! Listen to it just because. Especially if you have a younger sibling.

What it's about:

Well, everyone knows the fairy tale 'Rapunzel' which Disney now made into a movie with a slightly renewed story line. Rapunzel was stolen by the evil old lady and held into this huge tower...

...for all her life. She has magic hair because her mother had been healed with a magical golden flower while she was pregnant. One day, a handsome young man comes to the tower and rescues beautiful Rapunzel but Mother Gothel won't give her magic hair up so easily...

What I think about it:

It's a cute, romantic and funny interpretation of the traditional fairy tale and it was fun to read it. Also the style was quite good, I didn't have the feeling as if it just was the written-down movie to make more money. And I liked the pictures in the middle of the book. Of course it's a book for young readers, so there aren't very long or difficult sentences in it, which belittles the joy of reading for adult readers to a certain point, but still I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to read something cute and funny in between :)

I couldn't resist. It's TANGLED! I love it so much that I can officially claim that I have watched it more than I have Mulan. Now that's huge!

On its own, this novelisation isn't anything special. Let's be honest, this is a JUNIOR novelisation. But for what it is, it's definitely something any fan of the film would be excited about. Just because it's Tangled!

The book is written in third person omniscient narrative, which suits the whole fairytale thing, since lots of fairytales tend to be written in third person. There's really not much to say, really. The writing would be suitable for its intended age group, it was easy to follow along to and I love that there were some extra little details that aren't seen on screen. Just tiny little things that help pull everything together.

So yeah. I got a copy of this for only ~$3; how could I have resisted? I can see Tangled staying with me (both film and this novel) for a long, long time indeed.

[I won't be posting a review for this on my blog, nor will I be adding on to this.]

2,Question; In this book, Rapuntzel found many things to do in the house such as chore, painting, knitting, cleaning and reading books. What about you, if you had to stay at house all day long, what would you like to do?
My answer; I feel sick if it happens everyday, but if it only one day, I would like to clean my room and making some sweets.

I really like this story besides Rapuntzel is so cute. I was impressed with her brave. The level of the book is not hard so it was easy for me to read it.

I listened to the Tangled novel driving my daughter around town. I refuse to let my kids watch movies or play video games in the car while we drive to and from various activities. Maybe audio books aren't much better. But in my mind they are a slight improvement.

I didn't think this would add much to the movie's story. But, I was pleasantly surprised. As a mom who has seen the film more than a few times, I figured I knew the story down pat. But, the author managed to add a few details and elements that really added to the story telling experience. The emotions of the characters are built up throughout the story and there are several details are added to the story.

I enjoyed listening to the story and it has made me think, I might try another novelization with the kids driving through town!

The book Tangled by Irene Trimble tells the story about Rapunzel and how she had set out to see the floating lights. Overall, I think the book was pretty easy to read. It contained very nice visuals and detail. I say this was easy to read because I am in the 7th grade and I don't think this would be a book that I would read again. The problems they encountered was her "mother", Gothel. She had taken her from her home and stole her for herself because she had had magical hair that could heal someone and make someone younger. My favorite part of the book was when Rapunzel had finally seen the floating lights and Flynn Rider had been with her for the whole journey. I would recommend this book to younger readers who are just barely starting to read chapter books. For me, this was very easy for me to finish, I had finished it in two days.
