Keşke her kitabı bitirmek zorunda hissetmesem. Bu kitap bütünüyle vakit kaybıydı. Yazarın kendini bu konuda yazabilecek yeterlikte görmüş olması ve bir yayınevinin de bunu yayımlamaya değer bulmuş olması anlaşılabilir değil.

I managed to push through to the 40% mark, he was an okay writer. He did find out a lot of interesting information, but I just couldn't go through with the rest of the book. I did enjoy the first half though, because he brought up information on "primitive" religions, more along the lines of animism. He did go over many of the Asian religions too, which I liked because I am not familiar with those. The next half was just getting too bogged down and dreary. So, I am calling it quits and I rarely do that. So, enjoy what you can get through!

Saya baca waktu di perpus daerah di kampung, Painan. Allan Menzies memulai bukunya dengan definisi agama yang ternyata dipahami secara beragam oleh berbagai suku/masyarakat berbeda sejak mula kemunculannya. Selanjutnya, ia mulai menguraikan evolusi dari agama-agama primitif yang mulai dianut oleh peradaban awal manusia hingga jadi keyakinan yang lebih kompleks dan rumit seperti yang kita lihat sekarang. Tidak sedikit ritual salah satu agama merupakan pengaruh dari agama terdahulu, mungkin karena pengaruh sosio-kultur belaka, mungkin juga plagiasi dengan sedikit modifikasi.
