K19 Shadow Operatives Fiery and powerful women Save the innocent and capture the hearts of the women who ignite themThis three-book boxed set is a spinoff from the uber-popular K19 Security Solutions Teams One and Two series and takes readers into the darker depths of security and espionage.
The Shadow Operatives are sexier, stronger, and more dangerous than any of the rugged, alpha heroes you've encountered before.
Code Ranger Maisie Ann Jones Uncover the whereabouts of a smart, sexy spitfire
Code Diesel Bryar Davies Use intelligence to ignite the fire of the sexiest FBI agent I’ve ever met.
Code Wasp Swan Lee Prove once and for all that swans mate for life.
While each title in this series is a standalone featuring one couple with their own HEA, the books in the series will be more enjoyable read in order.
I read these books as they were released and wanted to share my reviews with those of you just beginning this series.
Book 1 Code Name: Ranger
This book opens with a glimpse of the now, then goes back to establish everything. If you've read Onyx, this will be a bit familiar but from a different point of view.
There is a major threat against the K19 group and the men here have been ordered to shelter in this small town until the threat has been eliminated. As a result, with Onyx in command and Ranger as his second, a new unit of K19 has been established this one Shadow Operations.
Ranger's family has always been a part of this lakeside community of camps (cabins) and along with his team they are making it their headquarters. He's trying to make the best of the inactivity and when they are invited to dinner at the Jones' he remembers Maisie and the attraction between them. Now he's wondering if it will be the same.
Now Maisie is taking over the family business and has big plans to revitalize the area. Unfortunately there are other things in play she doesn't know about.
Ranger escorts her around to examine what makes some of the surrounding areas so successful and they wind up doing something very unexpected.
There are so many surprises, plenty of intrigue and of course some sizzling heat.
Book 2 Code Name: Diesel
If you are reading this series, I'm sure you noticed Diesel's reaction when he heard of the ambush on the prisoner escort in the first book. Especially when it comes to FBI agent Bryar Davies.
He knows exactly how long she was in surgery. When she calls him to tell him she's being released, he rushes to the hospital regardless that her boss Ryan Fitzsimmons want him at headquarters. He works for Onyx not the FBI.
We do have another kidnapping to worry about in this search for the serial killer. Patricia Fasano the psychologist who was working with Maisie. Even before that takes off into full swing, she's found and brought to the ER at the same hospital where Bryer is still a patient.
Diesel is going to question her if she's able, but first he goes to Bryar. It seems Pershing 'Admiral' Kane, her boss over Ryan was on his way here, presumably to escort her back to DC. Diesel has another idea though, one that gets a bit of twist when he discovers Bryar thinks he slept with Patricia Fasano. Something that never happened.
Things are about to get a whole lot worse for Bryar, beginning with an attempt on her life.
Now you'd think that would be enough, but dang it gets worse.
Aside from finding a leak in the FBI, the serial killer and kidnapper, there's now the plot to frame Bryar.
There's plenty of action, suspense, romance, and just a touch of sizzle as this next chapter of this new arm of K19 continues. I can't wait to read the next one!!!
Book 3 Code Name: Wasp
Jasper 'Wasp' Theron first met Swan at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, she beat him in an exercise and his team is still ribbing him. Now Wasp was just a Lieutenant at the time and as such he found he was paying for all the drinks in his room dubbed hospitality suite. Dinners with the squadron were also required and the bill was split equally among everyone regardless of what they ate, there were also nights of credit card roulette where Wasp had lost the night before, this TDY was very expensive for him. After a joint debrief his commander Lt. Col. 'Barko' McAdams invites Swan to join them for their squadron dinner. He clearly wants to get to know Swan better. Swan wants nothing to do with him and instead sticks close to Wasp. This doesn't go over well.
Swan and Wasp meet up only one more time before they're tapped for a special mission years later. One that almost gets derailed. All this before they join with K19.
I loved getting all the background on these two, their relationship is flirty and fun but not completely smooth sailing. We also get a glimpse of Wasp's family.
When we return to the present case things take some unexpected twists. I couldn't stop reading until the end.
Code Name: Ranger, Ranger has known Maisie for a while but, although there's chemistry, he ignored it, until the team had to hide away because of the death threats. Maisie wants to put Canada Lake back on the tourist map. Ranger offers to help, so they go to visit various other places on a visit to collate ideas. The attraction isn't one sided and they have a great time. Returning home events take a dark turn.
Code Name: Diesel Diesel and Bryar have been working together on the kidnap and murder of the young women. She's with the group moving a prisoner when she's shot, Diesel then realises what his feelings are for her. Bryar remains in hospital when things deteriorate and become more dangerous. Who is the murderer? Is there a copycat? Who's trying to frame whom?
Code Name: Wasp. Swan and Wasp meet when they're in a joint command, they are both excellent pilots. Wasp is enamoured with her immediately but keeps it professional, even though it's a struggle. Then they're out with the rest of the crews when someone oversteps and Wasp steps in, even though it might affect his career. Years later they meet again, they're going to work together on a mission, but first they have to find out who is targeting them. After they leave their respective forces, they go to work for K19. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Code Name: Ranger is the first book in the new series, K19 Shadow OPs. Owen "Ranger" Messick and Maisie Ann Jones have a history. The story picks up with them reuniting and getting to know one another. Then the trouble begins. Maisie gets kidnapped just as the Shadow OPs receive their first mission. A suspenseful book with some twists. Can Ranger and his team find Maisie before it's too late? Grab a copy of the brilliantly written book to find out.
Code Name: Diesel 5 stars
An action-packed, page-turner that hooks you from page one. Someone is out to kill FBI Agent Bryar Davies. Diesel's protective instincts kick in. As they work together, their attraction heats up. The wonderful characters are smart and devoted to their jobs. I recommend this book and series to those who love page-turners.
Code Name: Wasp 5 stars
An exciting addition to the K19 Shadow Ops series. A page-turner that hooks the reader from page one. There are many twists and turns and suspenseful moments. Wasp and Swan's attraction started immediately. However, they didn't act on it until they joined the Shadow Ops. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to the next installment. Heather Slade hit this one out of the ballpark.
I do not recommend this series. I downloaded the 3-book series and while the individual couple relationships are resolved the basic story line is not completed. After reading 3 books, there is no killer identified. I found that the 3rd book did a lot of the backstory that had already been presented in the first 2 books. While this helped the reader stay fresh with the plot and the people, a lot of it was review. I will give the author credit; it took great care to sequence everything properly. My main reason for the rating on this series is the horrible language used throughout all books. Taking the Lord's name in vain is disgusting, dangerous, and offensive to me and this author's name goes on my do not read this author list. This is a shame because I think she writes well otherwise.
This box set contains the first 3 books following Team One of the K19 Shadow Operations: Code Name Ranger, Code Name Diesel and Code Name Wasp. There is an ongoing suspense plot that starts with Ranger's story and won't be resolved until the final book in the series, but the romances stand alone and are unique to each couple. They share a blend of action, suspense, heat, emotions, friendship and a personal HEA. So get ready for some serious binge-reading, because once you've started, you won't want to stop! I received free copies of the books from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
Heather Slade has created a wonderful series of memorable characters. Great characters and unique storylines combine for excellent reading enjoyment. This box set will give a reader hours of enjoyment!
All three in this set were well written perfectly paced stories pulling you in from the start. All were standalone reads but were all based on the team members. They all had plenty of actions with different missions to keep you turning the pages.
I absolutely loved these three books, and you will love their stories. Ranger & Maise, Diesel & Bryar, and Wasp & Swan. I loved meeting these characters and seeing them each come together. Thanks, Heather, for these stories.
What a strong group. They never give up. There are triggers throughout this box set. The men do not know the meaning of letting anything go. All with good reason
