De heks van Anjum: dader of zondebok

Is Marjan van der E. een koelbloedige moordenares of is ze onterecht veroordeeld voor de pensionmoorden in het Friese Anjum? Vlak voor kerst 1997 wordt ze gearresteerd omdat ze twee mannen om het leven zou hebben gebracht. De ongewone moordzaak leidt tot veel ophef en publiciteit. Waarom sloeg de 52-jarige ‘heks van Anjum’ twee mannen die veel jonger, groter en sterker waren dan zijzelf de schedel in? Is er een verband tussen de beide doden en de hennepkwekerij in de schuur van haar pension?

Margiet Brandsma sprak de afgelopen jaren met een groot aantal betrokkenen en komt met nieuwe feiten die een ander licht werpen op de veelbesproken moorden.

Bijzonder om het verhaal te lezen van de Satan van Moddergat. De vrouw waar ik mijn hele kindertijd doodsbang voor was. Nu blijkt het allemaal een vraagteken te zijn.

Boek geluisterd en daarna ook de podcast geluisterd. Intrigerend verhaal. Het verhaal krijgt hopelijk nog een vervolg, nu er nieuwe feiten boven water zijn gekomen.

This was an interesting read. A bit confusing at times when it came to jumps back & forth, different people telling their side of the story/speaking their mind.

What left me dumbfounded was, that I completely missed this. A double murder/two bodies found near to my home town and it completely escaped my attention. That's something to think back upon.

About the book. As I said, interesting because it talks about two murders that have taken place, a person was convicted and served time. But, did she really do it?
This book doesn't answer that question. I don't think that answering it was the aim of the writer. I read it as it followed several possible scenarios. Some more plausible than others, but interesting to follow the exploration.

The confusing part was also that exploration. A lot of he said, she said. After all, the alleged murderer passed away, so no possibility to ask them anymore. And would there have been an honest answer?
The many possible scenarios and the possibility that lawyers, DA and police didn't investigate/follow all the evidence that was collected made me think.
I probably will not look at a conviction ever again like I did before. With the rock solid conviction that all evidence found has been investigated and put to use in the best way possible. Where DA tries to get someone convicted where lawyers protect & defend their clients in the best way they can.
How can I, if I'm not sure about the evidence, the things a whole investigation is based upon?

Heeft ze het gedaan of niet? Het is onmogelijk dat ze er niet van heeft geweten. Wat een ongelofelijk verhaal over een vrouw die alle schijn tegen zich heeft en van rechterlijke dwaling.
