Tens: The Invitation

Rate this book
Tens : The hottest, wealthiest, and most elite at Grand Ridge University. Grand Ridge University is run by four Forrest, Apollo, Riggs, and Darwin. They’re spoiled, entitled, and have no idea about real-world struggles. But if I’m not careful, they’ll suck me into their lifestyle, and I’m not interested in becoming one of them. Yet that doesn’t stop them from inviting me to become a Ten. They want me to join them and to accept my family’s legacy, except when I find out the rules, I have no intention of taking a reigning crown. And rejection isn’t something they’re expecting. If they think I’ll submit, they’re sorely mistaken. They can try to break me and teach me a lesson, but they better be prepared for a fight because their silly games don’t scare me—they just make me want to get even. They’d better watch their backs because I’m coming for them. Tens - The Invitation is the first book in the Grand Ridge University series. This book is a why choose series and contains light bullying. Expect some dark themes throughout.

Good Start to a New Series

This story always full of angst and drama. Aila was a stronger than she appeared to be; after suffering the lost of her mother she refused to let Forrest, Apollo, Riggs and Darwin cause her to lose anything else; including herself.

Welcome to Grand Ridge University where only the strong survive and those who can't keep up are left for the vultures

2 stars - DNFd at 34%

So I ended up dnfing this at 34%. The main reason being that I wasn't really engaged in the story and I didn't care about any of the characters including the fmc. Also the story got fairly repetitive and it's a three book series so I decided just to stop reading it. Some of the things didn't make a whole lot of sense for instance the FMC tries to get back at one of the guys by filling his gas tank of his motocross bike with dirt but then she conveniently forgets that there's cameras all around the state of the art school which has been mentioned at least once earlier in the book when she punches another girl for bullying and making fun of her. Then you add in an incident where she was being recorded and videoed in her bedroom and she still didn't think about watching out for cameras. The story is multi POV but there isn't really a pull for me to continue on with a series especially since it is a three-part series.

I received and ARC for an honest review

This book comes with content and trigger warnings, refer to the authors website for further details.

Welcome to the town of Grand Ridge where wealth and status are everything, what number you are determines where you are in the hierarchy and the rights and privileges one is entitled too.

Aila made a promise to her mother, one she intends to fulfil, she is determined to graduate, she just has to make it through the school year unscathed.

We meet Darwin, Apollo, Riggs and Forrest. They own who they are, and they intend to welcome Aila in more ways than one, and a welcome she will never forget.

But what they don’t realise is that Aila is her own person, she will not get in line for them, even when they offer her a lifeline, she refuses. To say they are shocked is an understatement.

Aila is not prepared for the lengths they will go to make her acquiesce, pushing her to her limits. She shows so much strength and determination, she’s fiery, sassy and gives them attitude to boot.

Darwin, Apollo, Riggs and Forrest have never gone up against someone like Aila, not without question or challenge. They give and she takes, neither of the backing down, a game of cat and mouse. Their feelings towards her begin to change, igniting something inside of them, something they thought they would ever feel.

Aila reaches breaking point. And some of the guys feel her pain more than the others. We also get to see the other side of Darwin, Apollo, Riggs and Forrest. What makes them who they are, the one thing that tethers them not make their lives more bearable, what united them to become a tight knit brotherhood.

But there are those behind the scenes, the puppeteers pulling the puppets strings, and if Darwin, Apollo, Riggs and Forrest play there cards right they will be able to learn a whole lot more, but doing some comes with the expectations of there families and the names attached to them.

But what they are not at all prepared for is the reality of when truths begin to emerge that they begin to question who and what they know, there own families machinations and the lengths they will go to make sure that there best kept secrets remain close to the vest, but the truth always has a way of finding its way to the people who least expect it and the result is consequences that will ultimately result in a fallout of massive proportions.

This story is told from multiple POV, we get to see the characters through there strengths and weaknesses, what we see and feel shapes these characters, giving readers insight to who they are flaws and all, that they are in fact humans who all feel but handle what happened to them differently.

Their story will take you on a wild ride, having you turn page after page, this book had me from the beginning to the end. Reading this story, it enables the readers to really connect with the characters. The author knows how to write, and I will be coming back for more.

This book has it all slow burn why choose romance, possessive dominant alpha males, a fiery heroine who gives a good as she gets, touch her and die vibes, family and friend dynamics, madness, mayhem, revenge, vengeance, violence, defiance, manipulation, adrenaline seeking suspense, jealousy, twists, truths and betrayal.

The tension between them was undeniable, the friction burning hot between. The way they alluded to what they wanted to do to her, was down right panty melting. The aspects of there relationship running hot and cold, she can’t keep up with them, giving her whiplash.

But those s*x scenes were blazing hot, downright dirty and physical, it had all the pleasure and passion one would expect when Apollo, Riggs and Forrest showing Aila that they will be the only men that she will ever need, for they will always gets what they want, giving Aila the pain and pleasure, she deserves, there possessiveness and obsessive need for control and dominance, there foreplay it was off the charts and had all of the feels.

Here’s to anticipating the next part of their story!

Highly recommend both author and book!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Grand Ridge University is run by four me: Forrest, Apollo, Riggs, and Darwin. They're spoiled, entitled, and have no idea about real-world struggles. But if I'm not careful, they'll suck me into their lifestyle, and I'm not interested in becoming one of them. Yet that doesn't stop them from inviting me to become a Ten. They want me to join them and to accept my family's legacy, except when I find out the rules, I have no intention of taking a reigning crown. And rejection isn't something they're expecting. They can try to break me and teach me a lesson, but they better be prepared for a fight because their silly games don't scare me-they just make me want to get even. They'd better watch their back because I'm coming for them.

This is the first book in the Grand Ride University series. This is a why choose bully romance.
I love me a good bully why choose romance and this one is really good. This is also my first time reading this author and I loved every single second of it. Ali is a girl who has lost her mom to cancer and never in a million years expected to get thrown into the world she suddenly finds herself in. She has absolutely no clue who her mothers family is because she has never in her life met any of them in Australia. She did however know that her mom came from a very wealthy world but no idea just how elite it really was. When she arrives at Grand Ridge University she is sucked into a world she isn't prepared for and a lot of secrets come to life that really turn her world as well as that of the Tens on its axis. She wants no part of their social status games. However The four of them, Forrest, Apollo, Riggs, and Darwin are more than curious about the girl from America that's now in their world in Australia. They are not going to accept her rejection no matter how hard she fights to not be a part of their world and submit to it. However when feelings get in the way and Ali is stronger than she ever thought she could or would be what will happen? I loved discovering this world and all it hold and I really can not wait to find out all their is still to know. That cliffhanger is brutal and I need the second book right now!

This book has been my first 5-star read in over a week. This book drew me during the first chapter.
I enjoyed this book so much.

Alia is a girl who is making her mother's promise true by getting a better life. Her mother had in her will that Alia go stay with a friend that she knew from being a TEN before she was disowned by basically everyone. Her mother had cancer making her raise herself and take care of her mom before her mother passed away.

You meet the 4 boys during the whole book. Darwin is who she will be sharing a house with whiles she's there even though he shows that he hates her. You have Darwin, Apollo, Riggs, and Forrest. These boys have my heart when I tell you. The way Jaye and Jenna both go in on the boy's different issues is amazing. You get to see the book from multiple POVs.

When I first met Jennifer in this book for some reason she just rubbed me the wrong way the first time she even appeared in the book. She feels like if she can't get everything she wants then she gets mad. She is such a horrible human being. The way she literally lied about everything was just rough.

That last chapter was just something different. I don't know if I should cry or scream. I threw my phone because that cliffhanger just made my jaw drop. I hope Jennifer and Apollo's father has a downfall so I can just giggle while watching them suffer. PLEASE I'm begging for Darwin to be okay.

What a cliffhanger! I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this book, but it sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. Alia is thrown into a complicated world after her mother dies from cancer. Alia never met any of her mothers family and friends in Australia, but she knew her mother was part of a wealthy world. She had no clue how elite it truly was. Her arrival brings secrets to light and rocks the world of all the tens at Grand Ridge University. Alia wants no part of their social status games, but four boys have different plans. Forrest, Apollo, Riggs and Darwin won’t accept her rejection of being a ten and spend the majority of the book finding ways to punish her while fighting their feelings for her.

As a main character, Alia brings all the American sassy traits to Australia. She doesn’t take everything without fighting back. She struggles to keep her walls up and slowly the four tens break them down. The guys are jerks from elitist families. Most of them from broken homes with absentee parents. Their secrets have secrets and Tens only scratches the surface with a major bombshell at the end.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jaye Pratt is one of my favorite authors and Tens is a strong outing. I’m definitely intrigued by the overall story and can’t wait to see what happens to Alia, Forrest, Apollo, Riggs and Darwin.

This story follows Aila moving to Grand Ridge following the death of her mother - a place where everyone is classified into numerical ranks and is ruled by the rich elite aka the Tens.
Aila is immediately targeted by Apollo, Darwin, Forrest and Riggs who demand she takes her place and joins them at the top, but little do they know she is strong willed and doesn’t take highly to being told what to do.
Admittedly it took me a little while to get into this story because I felt like I wanted a bit more backstory of the guys before I could get on board with their bullying. It seemed like most of the time at the beginning the bullying was just because of the sole fact that they’re rich and everyone should do what they say because of it.
Once we were able to dive deeper into their personalities it made more sense why they act in certain ways, especially towards Aila.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Aila and Apollo and cannot wait for the scenes teased between the two and Riggs😏
Aila is borderline tortured by these guys and pushed to her limits but is fiery in her own right and gives it right back to the guys time and again.
There are a lot of secrets yet to be revealed in this story that I can’t wait to find out, with this story ending on a cliffhanger I am patiently waiting for the next book in this series.

This book was so good I literally couldn't put it down and by two new arthurs for me it's a win win situation.

Aila had promised her mother to go live with her best friend and attend Grand Ridge in Australia as her last dying wish for Aila to be able to get a better way of life and not have to struggle like they have had to.

When she get's there she soon realizes this school is not like one she's ever been to in the states...no, it’s all about what kind of job your parents have to know how high up in society you are and what your social status number is. Ten being the highest.

She meets Darwin, Apollo, Riggs, Forrest four guy's who tell her she's to be a Ten, but what they don't realize is that this girl is her own person and you don't tell her what to do, so when she refuses, because no one ever tells them no, they don't know what to make of her, and set out to make her life hell, because no one refuses to be a Ten. So let tge games begin.

There were so many secrets, lies, twists and turns as Darwin found out you don't know what to believe, and after that cliffhanger I'll bet Jennifer is involved, but I have to wait for the next book that I'm craving to get my hands on to find out what happens next.

This book is a slow burn that does have dark moments, so it comes with triggers beware of those before reading. I would recommend.

My rating:☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️(5/5)

I love dual povs but this book has now become a new favorite! You get a chance to be inside each of the boys' heads!! I loved the tension between the boys as she tried to fight them! I know I have been too much on TikTok because I could already imagine many of the Aussie accents in the boys! Talk about soaked panties! This book had me at the edge of my seat throughout the day! The boys while all asshats in their own ways are all beyond the sweetest when they don't have an audience. Normally in why choose romances I know which boy is my favorite from the beginning and on this one I can't pick!

🚨🚨Spoilers below read at your own risk🚨🚨

Aila and the boys were so much fun to read! While I was drooling for all the main characters some of the side characters know how to steal the show like Otto! Not many would go out of their way to mess with the tens let alone these four but Otto was more than willing to play along with Aila to rile up the boys! My favorite scenes always came after Otto helped rile them up! And that ending!!! I have never been left hanging like this! Darwin didn't deserve his mom to treat him like this! I hope that book too gets him some much-needed him and Aila time!!

🐎 - Important Notes:
I was given an ARC from PEACHYKEENAS. Regardless of that information, my review will be 100% honest. Additionally, there's also not spoilers in this review and everything is just basic info.

🛹 - Review:
Apollo, Riggs, Forest and Darwin were very interesting to. They're friends and have interesting bond. Aila came into the picture and made them all go into shambles.

In all honesty this book was alright. I definitely will be reading the next one since the story intrested me. However I don't really recommend this book unless your into why choose bully romance books.

I really only recommend this book if you're already used to the bully romantic type books and truly are used to it. These guys are something else.

🏍 - Quick Sum Up:
Cheating: N/A (They aren't in a relationship.)
OM/OW Drama: Kinda? (Again, they aren't in a relationship.)
Themes: Why Choose (Reverse Harem), MXM, StepsisterXStepbrother
Dynamics: MF MFM MFMM
HEA: No. (Plot Twist)

A strong female who stands up against her bullies?! That sounds perfect to me!!

I love a strong and fierce FMC and Aila did not disappoint. I love how she stood up to everyone. Darwin, Riggs, Forrest and Apollo are Tens, or the elite and wealthiest kids that attend the school. Everyone is ranked based on their parents and unless you are a Ten you are considered unworthy. Aila, after losing her mother has been sent to live with her mom’s best friend in Australia. She should be a 10 but she refuses to give into the guys or allow them to dictate what she does, who she can be friends with or anything else about her life. She gives as good as she gets! So she becomes an 8. The side characters were great in this story as well and really added to it.

I enjoyed this story as I really liked the bullying aspect that kept up for awhile. Not just a one and done prank. They really didn’t like each other for a good portion of the book. I did feel like the switch was a little sudden in that it happened as a quick 180 but it didn’t take away from the story and I enjoyed seeing the other side of the guys. They each have a hard past they are trying to work out and I love how Aila calls them on their s***.

I will definitely read book 2!

4.5 Star Review

From the moment I opened my kindle and started reading this book, I was HOOKED!

I loved Aila and how tough she was. She wouldn't bow down to nobody especially not the Tens. the Tens consists of the most rich and influential people in Australia and Aila comes from a mother that was a Ten but she never knew that, she found out the hard way. The boys want her to join them in the Tens group but she refuses because NO ONE tells her what to do and she will not follow anyone's orders but her own.

When she moved to Australia to finish her H.S. senior year, she had planned to return to the States and back to her normal life once she graduated, but now that she's establishing a new life and getting new friends in AU, how will she leave everything behind and go back to the USA? That's something she'll have to think over really hard and also find out answers that are plaguing her at the moment about her life that she thinks she'll be able to find out about...but at what price!!

I am absolutely excited to get the next book in this series because it's so dang good.

Wow! This book was such a rollercoaster. There were so many twists and turns and the secrets towards the end blew my mind.

Aila has been thrown into this new ultra luxurious lifestyle that the Tens live after her mother passes away. She is instantly put under Darwin, Forrest, Apollo and Rigg's radar and the push/pull relationship begins.
It's a combo of bully, secret society and high school combined with a slow burn spicy romance.

I thought Aila was great and loved seeing her stand up against the guys. As this was in multi POV we got to know a bit more about what is going on inside the guy's heads.

So far I don't have a favourite guy as I feel we've only scratched the surface on who they really are yet. Apollo is really intriguing and I would love to know why Riggs is the way he is.

I found it really hard to put my kindle down whilst reading this as I was totally absorbed in the story. After that cliffhanger I will definitely be reading book 2 as soon as it comes out as I NEED to know what happens next.

#YOLO 😘 #WhyChoose 💯🔥

Tens: The hottest, wealthiest, and most elite at Grand Ridge University.

The University is run by four of the leading Tens: Forrest, Apollo, Riggs, and Darwin.

Self entitled pricks all, but with lots of damage and baggage.

Aila, whose mother's dying wish was for her to go back to her hometown (Australia) and attend the University during her senior year. Turning down an invitation to join them and accept her family’s legacy. Rejection leads to harsh, demeaning, and demoralizing bullying.

From enemies to lovers as the boys realize she is worth so much more. They crave her and their obsession 🤩

Lots and lots of fantastic secondary characters interwoven into the main story AND each with their own dramatic lives paralleling 💞💞

Ending is a cliffhanger just as the proverbial Pandora's Box gets opened and lies upon lies leak out.

In the words of Aila's best friend Leesha, "#YOLO #WhyChoose"

Neat QR Code at the end - "You're invited to apply for Grand Ridge Uniand discover what ranking you will receive!"

Wtf

Honestly when I decide to venture into a book that two of my fave authors have co wrote I don't know what to expect and it certainly wasn't this
I was drawn in from the first chapter and I was starting to have a lot of confusing questions going through my head and Jenna well she was no hope with answers cause she loves torturing me and I'm all there for it lol.
When Alia's mother dies of cancer her last wish is for her daughter to come back to Australia where she was born and finish her schooling in the prestigious grand ridge like she did and set herself up for the future.
Little did Alia know her mother was keeping secrets from her and everything is not what it seems throw in 4 hot guys who rule the school and everyone. A number system that seems to rule the town where if your a ten you get everything and if your below well you do what tens say. Well that's what happened before alia comes along and defies everything they know.
This book was seriously amazing and I can't wait to continue it on with the next one.

flip flops

By chapter 16 I knew this was an awful book but I stuck with it
The story makes little sense, the MFC is an idiot, so much is over described it becomes waffle.
The plot idea is a good one however the story is just poorly thought out. The male leads have no redeeming qualities their bullying isn’t teenage romps it’s physical abuse, but she swoons over it. They leave her bound and in a dangerous situation in the mud and the next chapter she wants them. She’s a moron and has no redeeming qualities just like the boys. I like a dark romance, even if set in a school I’ll suspend disbelief but, this really pushed the boundaries of that.
Weirdly I’ve read a few books set in oz all have been just awful (don’t this it was the same writer ) this one is no exception. I assume the writer has a word count to hit as the most mundane items were given detailed descriptions.
Positives the idea is a good one the cliffhanger was interesting but I couldn’t care less what happens after.

This book was fantastic! It was fast-paced and I couldn’t put it down! It’s a why choose bully romance with a secret society, hot possessive alphaholes, plot twists, a feisty and strong fmc, and a cliffhanger that will have you begging for the next book!

Aila is so sassy and feisty, she was cracking me up. She takes no crap from anyone and gives as good as she gets. Darwin, Forrest, Riggs, and Apollo have no idea how to handle her and attempt to bully her into falling in line with their ranking system… she laughs at their attempts. I loved all of the guys and I couldn’t pick a favorite which happens pretty rarely for me with why choose. Usually, one or two guys end up being my favorite(s) but I can’t pick between these four, at least not yet lol

There is plenty of witty banter, funny scenes, steam, and sweet moments in this book. I didn’t want it to end because I was enjoying it so much! I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next!

Wow! I would give this book more than five stars if I could because it was such a great read. This book has so many twists and secrets that I couldn't put the book down. I can't wait until the next one comes out!

Aila is thrown into the world of the rich after her mother dies and she moves in with the Taigum's. She is halfway around the world, away from her friends, and everything she knew. This world is all about your ranking, something she doesn't completely understand or want to be a part of. I loved her fierce attitude and her refusal to just give into the guys. I loved Darwin, Forrest, Apollo, and Riggs. They aren't the good guys and they have baggage, but there is just something about them that pulls me in. I can't wait for more from all of them!

The ending of this book revealed more secrets so I am on the edge of my seat for the next book to see what's going to happen! If you enjoy why choose books with a little bit of bullying then you need to read this now!

Amazing!

This book was everything I didn't know that I needed but WOW did I. I love how original this storyline is, and the twists that just kept coming has kept my mind racing thinking of all the possibilities. Even now after that cliffhanger, I'm speechless wondering how this is all going to play out. I can't wait for more. I need to know more. I've only just finished and yet I'm desperate for the next book. I love Aila, and I'm coming round to the love interests (I can't wait to get to know them more). Aila does Aila and I am so ready for her to be the fierce birch I know she can be. The scenes with the guys... Wowzer was they hot, and I know it's only going to get Spicier. I am so ready for it.
The writing is brilliant and will keep you hooked and addicted. Once I'd started reading, I could not put it down. If you're a lover of the WhyChoose/rh trope then definitely give this book a read... It is HOT.

OMG!! I need book two right Now! I absolutely love Aila and her guys. With all that Aila has been through, she's not going to let any bullies break her. She came to Grand Ridge and decided to go against the norm by not accepting the easy road. Aila wants to live her best life but on her own terms.

The boys of the Tens are Forest, Apollo, Riggs and Darwin, have decided to make Aila life difficult. These four are the hottest, wealthiest guys in Grand Ridge and of course they all want her. She is the only girl not willingly falling at their feet.

I love the way Aila and Darwin communicate with one another. They seem to understand each other from their first encounter. There is so much mystery surrounding their parents, it brings these two closer and conflicted at the same time. We uncover some secrets in book one only to learn there is even more to be revealed. Jaye Pratt and Jenna Daring did an amazing job, I can’t wait for the next one.

⭐⭐⭐.5

I actually really enjoyed reading this one. The only reason it's not rated higher is just that I found some of the conversations didn't flow well and sounded a little awkward.

Loved the banter the back and forth between Alia and the guys. She did not let them walk all over and put them in there place.

Besides the romance what kept me mostly entertained was the fact that there was always something going on. Either they were doing something to her or she would be getting revenge back. But also a couple of secrets were discovered that would definitely affect the entire dynamic between her and one of the guys.

The book does end in a cliffhanger that makes me want to cry. I need to get my hands on the second book bc I just know next book is going to be messy and a lot of secrets are going to be brought to light.

Definitely recommend if ur looking for a book with very light bullying.

This book is the first in the Grand Ridge series and it is a great start to another fantastic series. In this one we meet Alia who made a promise to her mother that she would go to the University that she did. Things here are based on your wealth, status and what you can bring to the table and are then given numbers with each number having many pluses and minuses. Alia is a no nonsense girl who isn't going to follow the heard just because of some number system and she does so in a mic drop moment where she meets the Tens Forrest, Apollo, Riggs and Darwin when she shuts them down and says she won't be a Ten and causing a fire storm but damm was it great. The roller-coaster problems then start following her and her friends that she makes and continues to snub the Tens. Of course there is a mystery so steamy moments and one hell of a cliffhanger. I couldn't put this book down and can't wait to see what happens after the last pages of this book

Seppy's 5-Star Review:

Aila lost her mother to cancer and now she is moving to Australia to finish her high school year, in the same town her mother left many years ago. This town is a little odd because they give people numerical rankings based on the family name, wealth, type of job, etc. Aila was given a Ten, but she refuses to join the Tens, which angers Darwin, Riggs, Apollo, and Forrest.

I loved this one from the start. Aila is not afraid to stand up for what is right. She doesn't give in to the guys because she is a tough cookie but they still harass her, claim her, and embarrass her. Aila surrounds herself with a great cast of side characters - Sage, Atti, and Otto.

I am hooked and want more of this one. Aila and the boys have a spark. I love this one. I can't wait for more. I couldn't put it down. I read this one cover to cover.

Aila (FMC) is like a fish out of water when she lands in Grand Ridge after mother dies and she follows her wishes to stay with her mothers childhood friend. Only things are difficult for her there with these rich kids especially Darwin, Forrest, Apollo and Rigg. Who are part of an insular society where people are put into class groups into numbers from Ten downwards regarding of their social standing, background and the amount of money that they have. Aila comes in with her strong will and sassiness to kick all of that out of the window and refuses to conform to their outdated views. I loved Leesha and Sage. Can we have more of them please?? So many cracking plot twists and one hell of a cliffhanger ending too. Omg this book was so good. Loved It

Jaye’s at it again bringing us another FANTASTIC why choose story! We got a strong FMC, we got hot alphaholes, we got secret societies, I mean what more could you ask for.

I’m not gonna give any spoilers because I think you should just read this book. But here’s a little back story hahaha.

I want to be Aila when I grow up man 😂 she’s funny, she’s witty, she’s the whole freaking package and those poor guys just didn’t know what to do with her lol.

Now I never thought I would find a guy group of jayes that I would love more than the other. But I do got to say I think Darwin, Forrest, Riggs, and Apollo just may take the top notch. I LOVE THEM ALL AND THEIR PERSONALITIES.

If you like witty, funny, sweet but hot, and cliffhangers then this book is for you and I literally can’t wait to read more of this series.

I found the blurb quite interesting and the book didn’t disappoint. It does start off a little slow to begins with but the momentum soon picks up. I love it when a bully romance is done well, this one is full of drama, action, secrets and tension. Also has a slight secret society/ gated community vibe.

I really liked Aila as a main character and how she doesn’t back down from challenges. All the men bring a different dynamic to the group- Apollo is the broody one, Forrest is the possessive one, Riggs is a little p$ycho and Darwin is your playboy/ lady’s man. There are a lot of issues that still need working out for this dynamic to work and that cliffhanger will leave you wanting more.

Definitely recommend as I stayed up late reading this!
