Head held high, I walked out of the shelter with the dog others had deemed hopeless. Minutes later, I was banished from my own car by bared teeth and bristled fur, caught in the rain and dripping wet, foiled by the very creature whose cause I had just championed.
Never in my life had I asked so many times, What was I thinking?”
When I rescued Buji, little did I know he would teach me some of life’s most valuable lessonsand all he had to do to get my attention was save my life.
In Buji and Me, psychological therapist and animal behaviorist Wendy Kelly shares the principles of a dynamic, life-changing force that occurs when we allow our pets to become our teachers. If we are open and aware, they will guide us to being, well, better beingspresent, honest, aware, focused, joyful, kind, and loving. Unleash the seven secrets of living the pawsitive” life . . . starting today.
Along with imparting important life lessons, Buji and Me tugs on your heartstrings. Ms. Kelly has a very candid yet caring way of writing which makes you want to realize the potential in yourself and your pet(s). Stressing a positive outlook on life, Ms. Kelly interweaves life and behavioral lessons that can be applied to humans and animals alike. However, you don't need to have a pet to be positively impacted by the stories and lessons. Buji and Me is an inspiring book which will give you a whole new way of looking at the world and your place in it. Sprinkled throughout with encouraging quotes and great illustrations, I feel this book will help many people in many ways. You will feel good while reading this book and want to use the lessons within to keep that feeling alive at all times.
I've long believed that dogs can be our greatest teachers if we open ourselves up to their lessons. Wendy's book affirms that position and expands on it with some lovely, inspirational words. Buji and Me is a light, easy read. It was not groundbreaking in any way for me but it may surprise the odd reader who has not looked deeply into their dog's eyes to see the truth ... yet.
Thought it was an ok story. But it is hard to read and the author is all over the place. A friend met the author once and described her as a drunken mess, so unclear how to take a book of basically self help from someone like such. Won’t recommend, spend your money elsewhere.
This is the pet lovers version of how to live a life of love and happiness. I really miss my pup, and I’m so glad for the time we spent together, the memories we created, and lessons he taught me.
This is a real gem of a book. This is really more of a self help book than a book about Buji, but it combines the author's background as a psychotherapist and an animal behaviorist and talks about what our relationships with our pets can teach us. I really enjoyed the book and how the author relates to animals.
everyone should read this book! It speaks to the truth that animals can teach us and the truth that each of us carries inside. Animals are amazing teachers and have so much to give us. We are all better humans by becoming avid pupils of our four legged friends. Ms. Kelly is able to tap into their inherent goodness and purity and made me laugh and cry while reading it....Great read!!!!!
A refresher on the impact our pet relationships have on our lives.
This was a very easy read which reminds you of the relaxed way pets live. We can learn a lot from them. We can even change the world, one relationship at a time.
Being a dog person and teaching high school psychology I thought this book was a perfect fit for me, I tried for 50 pages and just couldn't get into it at all.
