Book 2 in the Yada Yada Brothers Series Retired Chicago cop, Harry Bentley, was doing just fine. He had custody of his grandson, DaShawn, giving him a second chance at being a good parent. He was enjoying a second romance with the enchanting Estelle Williams. He had finally connected with God, thanks to the Yada Yada brothers. And he was even enjoying SouledOut Community Church and helping at Manna House shelter for women. So, why was his eye giving him fits? A blind spot had developed in the very center of his vision with strange distortions around it. Was it a brain tumor? A stroke? Diabetes? Worse ... was he going blind? There was no way he could face life like this ... let alone raise his grandson or propose marriage to Estelle. Where was God? And why, at the height of his crisis, did all sorts of other complications crop up-his alcoholism, Estelle's emotionally disturbed son, his renegade boss from the Chicago Police Department, and an attempt on the life of Gabby Fairbanks' estranged husband? He couldn't see his way clear ... until God gave him a "second sight." This story parallels Who Do I Lean On? the third book in Neta Jackson's House of Hope series, but from another perspective. It's like reading in 3-D and seeing more than you ever imagined was there.
Dave and Neta Jackson are a full-time husband/wife writing team who have authored and co-authored many books on marriage and family, the church, relationships, and other subjects. Their books for children include the TRAILBLAZER series and Hero Tales, volumes I,II, III, and IV. The Jacksons make their home in Evanston, Illinois.
I read the Yada Yada sister series, and this was blended in very well. I want more of both series.... I miss the characters, and seeing how God worked in and they their lives.
Dave Jackson’s novel contained so many of my doubts and fears in my walk with Christ. I love that he used the story to emphasize God’s presence in our daily lives. Keep writing. Dave!
Love all the faith aspects in this yada yada brother book. Also enjoy how well they blend and add to and blend with the yada yada House of Hope series. Neta and Dave are a wonderful writting team.
Dave Jackson did a really good job developing Harry Bentley. Though the character of Harry was introduced in the author's wife's books, he was a minor player. As the main character in "Harry Bentley's Second Chance" and "Harry Bentley's Second Sight," he became someone with real struggles and a deep love for his family and friends. I could relate to his spiritual struggles and rejoiced with him as he overcame some really tough life situations.
This is second book in the Yada Yada Brothers series and if you want to read it, you should start with the first book as this book is following up with where the second book left off. The characters are really real to me and I can see each person since we met the side characters in the other books that Neta Jackson wrote. This is more Yada Yada at their best!
Good book. I love how it follows the series about the women, bringing in just enough of the same information to tie them together and yet weaving another whole story with the men as the primary characters. Got involved in this one pretty quickly and did not want to put it down.
I loved this book even more than I loved the 1st one AND as much as I loved the 4 written by his wife about the same characters. I thought this one had the deepest spiritual lessons of any of them, and was also fun to read. I read it in 2-3 days!
Really enjoyed the whole parallel novel concept! Gives an even better view of how God works all things together for good! This was well written and fun to read with spiritual truths throughout. LOVING the entire series!
