I was rummaging through a box of books I had packed away because of moving from one place to another rather often these recent years. Found several books on dating which I probably had bought way back while still working as an admin of a dating website, this one among them...

Sam leaves you with a feeling that she pretty much writes the way she talks and is an easy going person you would immediately get into conversation. I liked that about this book. So even though she goes through different topics, some more serious while other playful (and isn't finding the love of your life and getting married a serious one enough?), reading each chapter feels like you're just sitting in a café chatting with your girl-friends and sharing each other's life experience or knowledge.
I do agree on that point though - women find relationships with men so challenging because first and foremost they take advice from other women, not from men directly ;)

So the main idea in this book is that it all boils down to men being out on the hunt. And once the hunt is over, they have lost their interest and go seek adventures elsewhere, leaving girls all heart-broken and teary-eyed. She then continues to show examples of different girls and cases throughout this book (which was a bit difficult to follow, they became rather mixed up for me over time, so I had to scroll back an reread), giving small tips along the way and then prints comments from men in the end of each topic.

I guess there's no magic pill or any revolutionary discoveries to expect from this book, but I rather enjoyed reading it anyway. Maybe I even gather some good tips and new perspectives to mirror my own behaviour from years back.

Man, I hated this book. Even more than I hated The Rules. This is written very much for the Cosmopolitan and Cleo-reading crowd. Ah yes, and watchers of Sex and the City. It bills itself as a guide to 'everything you need to know about men, dating and sex', but apparently that boils down to one-night stands, blow jobs, f*** buddies, g-strings, fake tans, oral sex and Brazilian waxes. Yeuch. About the only useful advice is not to talk about marriage or babies with your guy. Ever. But I knew that bit already. Turns out I'm already a Wonder Woman with no need for dating 'manuals'. ;)
