Weedopedia: A Totally Dank A-Z Reefer Reference by Will B. High is an encyclopedic collection of all you ever wanted to know about weed (or pot, or reefer, or grass, or any of the other names for cannabis). There is an attempt to cover the topic from every angle: historic, political, legal, social and cultural. There is a bit of science and horticulture referring to the various strains and varieties of cannabis and different methods of cultivation. There are a few recipes of sorts related to quick and safe solutions to the “munchies” problem. There are lots of movie, music, comedy, celebrity and media references that made me feel really old because I’m so very out-of-touch. (Cheech and Chong are no longer “in.”) The tone of the book is sarcastically matter-of-fact and the humor is rather sophomoric. Enjoyment of the book would probably be enhanced if the reader is stoned. Published in 2010 it does not include reports of the rapidly changing legal scene across the country with the acceptance of marijuana as a medicinal therapy, the decriminalization of pot in some jurisdictions and the approval in at least two states of its recreational use. The pseudonymous author has teamed up with I.M. Stoned and Holden Blunts for the 2011 Adams Media Corporation release of The Big Bag of Weed: (Almost) Everything You Need When You Want to Get High. I have not included it on my “to be read list.”
