À quel animal appartiennent ces écailles ? Les tout-petits vont adorer deviner les animaux auxquels appartiennent ces écailles si particulières dans cet ouvrage sous forme de questions/réponses, ludique et très richement illustré !
Five animals with scales--an armadillo, an iguana, a pangolin, a snake, and a turtle--are featured on the pages of this board book. Young readers are provided with a question on the left-hand side of the page as well as a photograph of part of the animal showing its scales and then encouraged to guess what the animal is. They can check their answers when they flip the page and see each animal in its entirety. This activity is great for fostering visual acuity and powers of observation as well as providing a brief introduction to the natural world and some of its interesting creatures. I loved the variety of scales that are on display here.
For: animal lovers; readers looking for a guessing book.
Possible red flags: some readers may find the guesses to be too hard--animals not commonly featured for this age group; some may find the book too simple.
Simple enough prediction book about animals with scales but my kiddo really liked the realistic photography. Some notes on the animals for the adult reader would be nice as most are pretty basic but I didn't know what one of them was.
Guess the creature based on a short description and a close-up image of a wing.
Beautiful photography; and a great choice for engaging a little one. A little nit-picky, but the animal pictures (tortoise) did not match the description (turtle).
Whose scales are those? This is a fun and appealing book that depicts a variety of animals with scales. I especially enjoyed seeing the pangolin, one of the most endangered species on Earth.
