...and a puppy shall lead them!
This was a cute story, clichés abound this one brings you to that one; that one guides you to over there; once there you go to that other one, which in turn'll give you directions to go to some other place to meet... anyway, you get the idea.
Don't we all wish our puppies had visions and messiah complexes? I know I do ;-)
Funny, when I ordered this book, I somehow thought it would be in color. Wrong. It's in marvelous black AND white... no grey areas, oh and a few red orbs along the way. Granted, you could say that it's viewed through the eyes of the 2 main characters and seeing as they are dogs, they would be color blingd. But actually, dogs aren't fully color blind, they do see some colors and even the colors to which they are color blind, those still show up in shades of grey. But OK, for argument's sake let's say that they are fully color-blind and can't even see nuances of grey.
The art is VERY black and white... with alot of black... McAdoo's India Ink bill must of been very high :-)
Alot of suspension of belief is needed to get through this story, but once your fine with the hard to believe scenes, then you can simply go along for the ride and enjoy.
All in all a fun read with a bit of a cliffhanger ending... though I have no idea how McAdoo would follow-up on such a story... I get the feeling the cliff-hanger was just there for the reader's enjoyment and to do what he will with it. Not as in there will ever be an actual sequel, which I'm totally fine with, this doesn't really need a sequel.
Addendum: Seems to me all the animals were male... a little gender differation would have gone a long way to attract the ladies.
Addendum II: The art and some of the text is at times printed very close to the spine, forcing you to "force" the pages open... If not careful, this could easily break the spine.

fantastic writing and art and storytelling! first 6-star graphic novel i've read in a couple months. i assume the author/artist will be at A.P.E. - pick this up!

Another box of old convention buys that just sat around. The story is OK and the art has some ups and downs. Stand alone graphic novels to really push things to get my support.

What a great story! And what a twist at the end! Looking forward to the next one.
