ChatGPT, and other related AI tools, presented a new way to prepare documents, articles and emails. This is particularly challenging to educators as effectiveness of using assays and other forms of writing tasks for assessment of student's knowledge may be affected by the greatly affected by the AI tools. Chapter 10 of the book did discuss some ways to better assess students in the presence of the AI tools. The book also presented different opportunities bring forth by the AI tools.

Before reading this book, I was unsure of my thoughts on ChatGPT. After reading this book, I was sold that ChatGPT can actually enhance both the teacher's and student's experience in the classroom.

It is important to note: the final chapter entitled "Combatting ChatGPT" will be of extreme interest for those leary of this new technology. The author discusses ways to make assignments less ChatGPT friendly.

I am convinced this technology is not going away so I feel it important that all educators read this book. They'll learn how to safeguard this assignments but also realize how ChatGPT can benefit their own lives. 5 solid stars!

Useful book that delivers exactly what it sets out to. A lot of it is just examples of input and output, so you’ll have a whole half-page of a foreign language and then the English equivalent just to establish that ChatGPT can translate effectively. What I found most useful was Skrabut's suggestions at the end of how to create assignments that discourage students from using it or conversely, how to model using it responsibly and in a way that promotes their learning. 3.5 stars rounded up.

This is more a reference books than one to read cover to cover. There are good suggestions, but be cautious. One suggestion is to ask AI if an essay a student submitted was written by AI. Never do this, the answer is unreliable, at best. But I will try other suggestions and share them with other faculty.

a great introduction to the subject

A great introduction with simple examples of how a prompt can generate a response. Also some simple ways that a lecturer can explain AI to students.

Definitely a little bit of repetition as the author tried to reach 80, but overall I thought this little book would be helpful for anyone in the field currently using or looking to start leveraging chatGPT.

Some really fascinating ideas and some good examples. I’m just 90% convinced that this book on AI was written mostly or entirely by an AI itself.

Skrabut's book is an effective list of 60 ways to use generative AI in the classroom. The 20 uses are more instructional prep and might be of more value than the first 60. He includes ten ways to combat the use of generative AI as well.

As someone already using AI in education, I found much of the content about leveraging ChatGPT to be fairly familiar. That said, this book would be a helpful starting point for educators who are new to the tool or unsure of how to bring it into the classroom.

One idea that did stand out to me was the suggestion to incorporate Bloom’s Taxonomy into prompts to help develop stronger lesson objectives. This is a practical tip I’ll be keeping in mind!
