Lawman Jack Munroe didn't want to see the truth about his troubled little girl, especially when she was caught shoplifting in Katherine McKaslin's Christian bookstore. Being a single father was hard on a man's faith and patience, and he didn't need the all-perfect Katherine telling him how to impose discipline.
Yet, he began to see the positive effects Katherine had on his daughter... and on him. Jack hadn't been looking for a relationship, but this strong and beautiful woman made him wonder if God wanted him to risk a second chance at love.

I would have to give this book 2.5 stars. I really enjoy Jillian Hart's books but this one though written well and holding my interest left me feeling luke warm. The McKaslin girls are all pretty perfect and though Katherine went through an awful time she handled it like the perfect person she is. I just wish that Hart had made something else Katherine's tragic problem because though it is a terrible thing when it happens to people in real life it has become a cliche of the inspirational romance novels. I also don't like how Hart wrote in Jack's wife's death, she couldn't have simply died? I will continue to read Hart but I wish she would stop trying to make her characters have tragic pasts and just write them like ordinary people, I mean there has to be a little drama but not so extreme-people will still like them.

Police Officer Jack Munroe's teenage daughter is getting in with the wrong friends and it leads to her shoplifting in the nearby Christian bookstore owned by Katherine McKaslin. Katherine is not looking to press charges... but only to find a way of getting Hayden to pay off her debt and learn to make better choices. At the same time Katherine is having feelings for Hayden's widower Dad, but can she trust his intentions so that she won't get hurt by another man in her life???
I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be a light, cozy, Christian book... my favorite!!!

This was recommended to me by Good Reads because I had read some other Love Inspired books. This is I guess, a series that has sections to it? and this is the 3rd section? Even though this was the 2nd book of this section of this series, I wasn't lost due to not reading book 2; so apparently you don't have to read any books before it to understand what is going on. You can kind of see where the other books "May' give you some of the background on some of the secondary characters but nothing major to the story itself. I personally have read books 1 and 3 and the only thing I found 'similar' was a bookstore and the town and the repetitive last name of a promenade family but that was it. Now this book gives you the background story on a couple in book 3; but again your not lost in book 3. So you CAN read these individually and not have to in order.

It seemed like this author likes to have her main character 'worry' and 'whine to themselves' about things in the past over and over and over again. At times to the point where the reader gets really tired of 'hearing about it'. I mean I understand things happen in your life and often times you carry it with you and worry about how it influences those around you but to continually worry and fret over it doesn't do you any good and only (in stories) make the character 'weak' and 'boring' But this main character does pull through with another main character with reminders God helps pull you through things in life and wants you to be happy. This book it wasn't 'as bad' as in the other two books but it did start getting old her 'secret'... but the other main character kept the story going. I did enjoy this one the best out of the three I've read thus far.

Will I ever read this again? Possibly but I won't be 'looking' for it. But I will continue with this series to see if the other books are similar or better

I think this story could have been so much better (why I'm only giving it 2.5 stars). It bothered me that there was so much focus on Jacks wife's death, I do understand somewhat because of his daughter Hayden and her struggle to come to terms with her mother being gone, however I also felt that there should have been as much focus on the bonding between Katherine, and his daughter's acceptance of her into their lives as Katherine could have helped Hayden so much emotionally. I was very disappointed that there was NO bonding at all really between the two. The ending felt rushed and I felt very slighted that there was not an Epilogue to this story, I believe it would have made a world of difference

This is book #11 in the McLaslin series. The plot was a bit different from the rest of the books in the series so far. I thought this book was a bit more interesting and realistic than the previous ones, making it more interesting and realistic.
It involves a woman who had been date-raped as a freshman in college and the effect it had on her and male relationships for a 17 years. I'm not going to give a summary because I don't want to reveal the plot, but there is not as much repetition and more real story. Suffice it to say that every woman wants a prince charming who will love and cherish her no matter what happened in the past.
Read it and find out how Jake wins her.

This is an enjoyable, quick read, but it also says a great deal about healing, forgiveness, and individual response to tragedy. The characters are very endearing, and a rebellious teenager adds to the drama of a budding romance. This is Katherine McKaslin's story, and I highly recommend it. The ending did seem a slight bit unfinished because the situation with Hayden doesn't seem fully resolved. Perhaps it will be continued later in the series.

It was very interesting from the beginning. The lawman's daughter, in trouble! And lies. She is hurting inside and needs help. Katherine is the one.

Again, a clean, sweet read from Jillian Hart. I liked how the characters learned to trust God and forgive not only other people, but themselves.

Jack Munroe's daughter steals from Katherine McKaslin's family shop. Katherine is drawn to him, but is scared because her former fiance' was not as understanding ash she needed.
