There are heroines who are sweet and generous then there are some who are doormats. The former draws an adorable little ‘aww’ and the latter, profanity from me. Here the heroine made me so very mad. What do you do if your boyfriend of 2-3 years proposed and later breakup with you on the same day? I sure as hell will do everything in my capacity to hate and forget him. And heroine started the journey by going away and staying that way for 2 years. But then she decided she has moved on and it’s time to be back. Where the hero, who didn’t even have the decency to check on her after that fateful day, even though they were very good friends, lives. And from that moment onwards I was fed up with heroine’s inner monologues about hero’s superficial attributes. It was also clear if he would’ve given just one positive signal she would’ve jumped on that, forgetting all hurt. Who does that?
Another classic thing, hero was dating another woman when they met again. Heroine had to see and hear her saying to hero that ‘she can’t stay overnight this time’! And he had the audicity to be jealous and spoil her date. I was very confused about his faithfulness during separation. And she of course, stayed true to him . Dear god I was even mad at him for addressing the OW ‘his lawyer’. And then they kissed though the lawyer was still in the picture. The OW issue wasn’t completely resolved when they slept together or later. It fel too much like cheating for my comfort.

I enjoyed the story. There was a nice balance of competent doctoring/nursing/dealing with patients, everyday life and chats with family and friends, and the couple who have been in love for years but want different things from life. I'll be happy to reread it someday. I had no issues with it until I was done with it and took a look at the title…
TITLE RANT: Look, I don't usually pay attention to category titles because they're always "Somebody's Descriptive Something" and that's fine, but I like some kind of accuracy in titles, and in this case, nobody's snowbound and two people working through their issues and attraction to each other does not a miracle marriage make. End rant.
Stella returns to the place she loves the best, hoping that the two years she has been away will be a buffer against her feelings for Daniel. Unfortunately that proves not to be the case and apart from the fact that he has a current girlfriend, he still doesn’t want marriage and children. Daniel was traumatised by his childhood and is convinced that he would be a bad husband and father. Will four days looking after his nephew and niece change his outlook? Trigger: cheating (never breaks with girlfriend)
Lovely Christmas story which I read as part of the anthology Angels in the Snow by Sarah Morgan. Sarah Morgan as a way with words and I always love her minor characters, who are truly minors....as in children. They have loads of wisdom and perfect quips for the adults in the books. This book is no exception to that rule. Sit down with a cup of tea (these are British stories, after all), in front of a fireplace and enjoy.
The MC did everything you are not supposed to do, and felt everything you should now (and why do it in the first place?) also the 10 year old kid felt to much like an adult/best friend and it just did not seem really plausible.
And then 3 days is enough, nah I do not buy it, also considering its been 2 years without any contact...
Stella comes back to her hometown after 2 years away. She and Daniel had loved each other so much but Daniel didn't want kids and broke off their engagement. Stella tries to get her life back together again but it is hard since they work together and will be seeing each other more often. Besides, it looks like Daniel has moved on with another woman. Such an emotional read. Daniel's 10year old nephew, Alfie is a priceless character. I really enjoyed him.
Daniel and Stella really still have feelings for each other which are quite apparent. Neither one tries to hide how they feel and it is difficult.
SPOILERS:
Daniel does have a new girlfriend, so he has to resolve this. Also he really still does have a deep seated fear of being a parent. He only comes to terms with this after he babysits for his brother for 4 days. While he thinks he is such a disaster, it takes his nephew Alfie to point out that he did a good enough job. Stella and Daniel have a nice and believable happy ending since we do see how much they care for each other.
A cute book. I haven't read any of the other books in the Lakeside Mountain Rescue series. Apparently, this is book 8. I was just looking for a good Christmas read and this didn't disappoint. I would recommend it even if you haven't read the series either because I hadn't even realized it was part of a series until I went to mark the book as read!
As with most of her medical stories just needed more, the hero is involved with another woman who just disappeared from the story leaving an incomplete feeling. Otherwise a good story with an interesting background. .
