An Essential Grammar is a reference guide to the most important aspects of current Danish as it is used by native speakers. It presents a fresh and accessible description of the language, focusing on those areas of Danish that pose particular problems for English speakers but at the same time providing a broad general account of the language. The Grammar is the ideal source of reference for the learner of Danish in the early and middle stages. It is suitable for independent study or for students in schools, colleges, universities and adult classes of all types. This new edition has been fully updated to reflect changes in current language use and recent cultural developments. Features
Like all of the Routledge Essential Grammars I've seen, the Danish version is quite good - pretty much covering the bases on what you need to know to be reasonably proficient, if not fluent, in the language. Some of the terminology may be a little opaque to people who aren't hardcore linguistics or language people, but it's not insurmountable. I don't think you can learn a language from this, but it's a valuable tool.
A very good, thorough, and concise explanation of the major points of Danish grammar. Danish grammar is relatively simple compared to many languages, so the book does a good job of highlighting exceptions to rules and other places where learners are likely to trip up or get confused.
