I have worked with high school and college students for over 10 years. I was first a high school classroom teacher (biology, reading and English). I then became a curriculum specialist, working on academic plans, professional development and testing (This is where I got all my insights on tests, specifically the ACT/SAT). In 2011 I became an assistant principal at Estero High School (I was the hammer. My job was to keep students in line). I then became a college professor, which I continue to do today. I help young adults stretch beyond their comfort zones to achieve and exceed their goals. Kathleen 's Certifications: K-6 Elementary Education, Biology 6-12, English 6-12, Reading, ESOL, Educational Leadership
I have two years experience as the teacher of record and one masters degree. I learned more in two afternoons reading this book than the last two years. She works from the big ideas/theories down to the specific details. Additional helpful resources are offered via links in the book. I’ve been taking this last year off re-evaluating whether I want to go back into a classroom full time. After reading this book, I’m feeling much more confident that I stand a chance of doing a decent job.
As a new educator, this book is an invaluable resource! It provides easy to digest insightful advice, practical strategies, and inspiration to navigate the challenges and succeed in the teaching profession. If amazing was a book, it would be this one!
