Diane Wellman was in the wrong place at the wrong time. On patrol one hot night in Texas, she happened across the scene of a chilling multiple murder. An idealistic young police officer, Diane questions the nature of the open-and-shut case. She knows the prosecutor has put an innocent man in prison for the crime. And Diane saw someone else that night.

Gail Rubin has been in the wrong place for the past eighteen years. She was sent to prison because of her peripheral involvement in a robbery--a robbery where someone was killed. And now someone is determined to make an example of Gail.

Both Diane and Gail have been done wrong. They want revenge. And they are willing to risk everything to find a way out of the nightmare their lives have become. When the two of them make a break for it, they delve into the crime for which Diane has been put away, and they uncover a bigger conspiracy than they can even imagine. And once they're on the run, there is no turning back.

Wanted is a roller-coaster ride and an adrenaline rush, a beautifully crafted thriller of justice and redemption.

This was a fun, enjoyable, fast read. I’m not sure why it has several bad reviews. Yes, it was an improbable scenario but it was fun. The writing was descriptive and the author did a good job of weaving the characters thoughts into the story line. Couldn't put it down.

Diane was a very bright police officer. It should have been obvious to her who had set her up. It was obvious to this reader. However, the author kept the reader guessing as to whether Gail’s friends could be trusted and whether Renfro was in on it.

There were several loose ends at the end of the tale. There was no answer as to whether one of Gail’s friends had snitched or was it just chance that the cops came to Chris’ and Michelle’s house looking for them.

The only negative was the foul language. Got a little tired of the “F” word.

This would have been four stars if I'd never finished it. Gail and Diane were good characters and the reader is definitely rooting for them. The escape scenes were well done and the tension high.

The end made the story fall flat, in my opinion. I found it hard to believe that Tom never breathed a word to Gail (who obviously was screwed over by a vindictive judge. However, it's not unusual for women to get harsher sentences for the same crime. A "Boys will be boys" mentality? Not sure), never wrote to her, never got a message to her, but suddenly reappeared AND took the fall to let her and Diane escape? Romantic, but not feasible.

We never learned who had been ratting the women out throughout their escape. The ball was completely dropped, and it's hard to understand how no one in the editing process caught this.

Diane might be innocent, and everyone might know it, but she still was sentenced to prison and she escaped. She is not simply going to walk. It's not that easy to vacate a sentence and give a wrongfully convicted person her freedom. This ending was too glib and easy and disappointed me.

The author gets points for fooling me. I did not figure out who had framed her--at least not both parties. My money was on someone else completely, who turned out to be innocent.

It took me longer to read due to work blowing up with the covid crisis, but I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Rush.
Possibly a softer tone but there's a certain empathy you can't help but carry for the two sisters. A reminder to ourselves, that all flaws start with good intentions and bad decisions.

I think the biggest fail most have with this book is that they're too busy comparing it to the author's previous books. But looking at it from a stand alone position, it's well worth the read.

Just follow the story along as it develops and you'll be surprised how much you enjoy it.

Diane was a Texas cop who discovered a triple homicide, then questioned the guilt of the man convicted of it. She ends up in prison herself, framed on drug charges. Her cellmate, Gail, was a starry eyed revolutionary who has served 18 years so far for the weapons found in her boyfriend's basement. Together they break out of jail. Gail wants to savor freedom. Diane just wants to prove she was framed on those drug charges, and everyone else wants them back in jail. I liked that Gail was so wrong about who framed her.

What a frustrating book. It was an ok story, but the premise was not believable...that these two cellmates would escape together after knowing each other for a nanosecond and then try to stick together on the run. Gail's storyline was weird - she has been in prison for 18 years, yet has this group of people waiting to help her escape, yet they have never contacted her in 18 years?! And, someone from her network was obviously ratting them out, but the Author never followed up on that storyline...or why she got such a raw deal in prison sentence and her cronies didn't. I only read this quickly because I have other books to read I wanted this OFF MY NIGHTSTAND!!

It took me just over a month to finally finish this book. Needless to say, I didn't really like it. I should've quit reading after the first few chapters, but for some reason I just kept reading... slowly, but I kept at it. I guess it was because, on the cover of the book someone named Tess Gerritsen said "Will blow you away". Hmph. I wasn't blown away at all!

A couple chapters in, the book takes a sudden turn. Totally unexpected and not very believable, in my opinion.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. :(

nice premise. the author seemed to feel she had to hammer some points repeatedly. there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end of the story. but it's an easy read; you can pick it up and put it down.

Author must be in la la land cause this book dosnt happen in the real world. I felt that is was a little far fetched. I liked the idea the book was heading in the beginning then it took a turn than ruined the whole thing. Id try another of this author to see if I like it better.

This was a bargain book at the store and the cover caught my eye. I was surprised by how great it was. I stayed up late into the night reading it and finished it in 2 days. I love when bargain books turn out like that!
