Names changed from their original spellings due to noise and confusion. Family heritage gone that fast. Smalovsky becomes Smith!
Good book about Ellis Island's history. Beautiful pictures.
Ellis island was opened as a gate from the newcomer from the Europe. After serious inspection, many of them arrived to the United States with american dream. As time goes by, things change and are less and less newcomers coming through Ellis island. This book is very informative on the history of immigration and how this country kept welcoming immigrants from Europe in early time, and how things kept changing with the history. It is fun reading a story of people coming to the new place with hope. This book is very good for talking about the American history, and would be able to inform how this country grown. Also might can relate to some kids have European roots.
