During the World War II, the middle school girl Mizuhara Masumi met her friend's cousin Yuki Shuichi and they had a crush on each other but hid in the exchange of story books... By the end of the war, Masumi resided in a town and became a children's book editor in 1950s. She inadvertently opened the previous life memory of Murakami Kazuhiko, a graduating primary school student. 'Because, May only comes once in spring.' Fifteen years later, Murakami worked in a toothpaste company and a female student Machiko appeared in front of him when he was humming the German ballad. This ballad, which prevailed during the war, woke up the memories of Machiko about the past.
