After escaping certain death at the hands of a rogue faction of the FBI in Manassas, Virginia, Jack and Jeremy Kenney race home to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Time is quickly running out for them and the rest of the world to prevent seven mysterious, but deadly, objects from reaching the United States. The objects resemble enormous golden towers, and along with an eighth shimmering tower moving through America’s Deep South, they belong to deities that once ruled the earth thousands of years ago. The collective eight, known as the "Children of Elohim" are swiftly closing in on Tuscaloosa, with the promise of bloodshed unlike anything the modern world has ever witnessed.
The late Dr. Oscar Mensch has left detailed instructions for the brothers, both students at the University of Alabama, to restore an ancient shrine known as the ‘Estrella de La Sangre’ or ‘Blood Star’ in the basement of a sprawling estate located near the University’s campus. But an ominous riddle remains as to why the professor would ever want to resurrect the shrine once used for blood sacrifice in ancient Pakistan.
The answer leads to a harrowing adventure for the Kenney brothers, exposing them to new horrors, both in the States and abroad. The journey for salvation takes them to a mysterious Essene castle in the Bolivian Andes of South America, and then back to Alabama for a deadly confrontation with an unearthly menace...one that threatens mankind’s very survival.

This book is pretty much Action from beginning to end... There is constantly something going on and it all revolves around Jack and Jeremy and of course Genovene is behind it all. Although this time Jack and Jeremy are wanted by the FBI for multiple murders.
Genovene and her family are planning something big. Something that they have decided they need Jack and Jeremy's help with and they will get their help one way or another. No matter who Genovene has to kill or use as bait. Genovene and her siblings goal is to put the blood star together again and take over the world and basically have a never ending feast. Jack and Jeremy along with some new friends need to stop them.
Aiden has thrown quite the mixture in this book and really you never know what to expect... You have Angels and Demon's, God's and Deities, and attempted terrorism. Along with Police cover up and brutality to the extreme... I LOVED this book and I cannot wait to move on to the next one. Thank you for giving me another great adventure to escape to Aiden. I do recommend reading these from the first book on or you may be a little lost.. And I DO Mean READ them.. You will NOT be disappointed!!
I love this story which is unfortunate because this is probably the most badly written book that I have ever bothered finishing. None of the characters have a personality. The voice of dialogue for each drifts between a 12 year old with potty mouth and a college graduate. Very disappointing.
This is the 2nd in a series of 3 books. It picked up right where the first left off & at first I was excited to see where the story was going. Then the main characters sprung a major stupidity leak. As in, our arch enemy, along with a father figure want us to build something... So, hey, let's do it! Ummmm...NO! Reminded me so much of yelling at the characters in horror movies- DON'T DO IT!!! HOW STUPID ARE YOU?! Yeah... then there are the big gaping plot holes. Oh, we are so glad you could make it to our castle, it's the only safe place for you! So tomorrow we will go back to your home! Wha???! Again with the I know something you don't know but I'm not going to tell you...today. Annoyed the hell out of me. Also, if you are in a race to save the fate of the world are you really going to be playing head games instead of getting stuff done? The whole, 'Let's go spelunking!" plot line was unbelievable even for a horror/fantasy novel. It's icy! It's dangerous! It's been there for hundreds of years & they have never improved the trail! Duh!!! Seriously? And they take 0 precautions? "This kind of thing ALMOST never happens." So, it has happened before & yet there is no protocol for protection in the caverns? Wth? I was also very put off with the gruesome murders/torture. I obviously will not be reading the 3rd book of the series. I kept telling myself not to abandon this book, that it had to get better, but it didn't. I honestly think this is the first really negative review I have ever given. I'm sorry.

This truly is another series I never thought I'd be interested in, but once I got started, I was hooked. Jack, Jeremy and those who believe in them and are working to try to help them are obviously in the "good" camp, while the demons and mythical gods and goddesses are in the "evil" camp. As in real life, one is going to win. Which one will it be? Will it be Jack and his brother Jeremy, trying to prevent Genovene and her cohorts from the ultimate goal of putting together the entire Blood Star, or will it be Genovene and her family of demons, bent on destroying the world as we know it and turning it into God only knows what? These books are written so well that you can forget it's supernatural and wonder what it would really be like if something like this were to really happen...and thank God it is supernatural and only in the imaginations of talented authors who can come up with stuff like this...something that can hook someone who isn't normally interested in this type of book, but I haven't been disappointed in any of his books thus far.
Book 2 in the series, this book was non-stop action from start to finish! It was a traditional style of writing instead of the interview and flashback style of the first book, which made it easier to read. I look forward to starting another series by Aiden James, as his books are exactly the type I enjoy!!
If you are familiar with James other works there are some places and characters you will recognize. I felt like other characters I know just missed the characters in this series so the connections and familiarity are both fun and welcomed. But, even new readers have plenty to enjoy without these connections.
