Blush: A Story of Dominance and Submission is a wonderful tale which brings you into the heart of the BDSM scene. The story begins with Kasia, a twenty-seven-year-old woman who, although highly inexperienced sexually, has a vivid and specific appetite to be dominated. She works for Dr. Ronan Devlin as a receptionist with her friend Tatiana, a well-established ‘wild-child’. When Tatiana takes her to the local BDSM club, Cimmerian, Kasia’s life irrevocably changes.

Once inside, Kasia is introduced to the rules of the lifestyle. Standing out like a beacon of light, her inexperience marks her as a coveted prize to men and women alike…but none desires her more than the hot, masked Dom who has been watching her since she entered. After exploring the various viewing rooms, she is approached by the Dom who leads her to a private room where they share an evening of passion which not only fulfills her sexual desires, but an inner need to submit.

Jenika Snow, in her talented manner, reveals the inner world of submissives and dominants. More than sexual conquest, Kasia and her Dom demonstrate how the lifestyle meets emotional needs which far surpasses the physical pleasures of the flesh. Kasia’s need to obey her Master and her Dom’s need to control her are not about power, but about allowing the other to express an essential part of who they are. As two parts of one whole, they complete each other in the process.

The sex is red-hot, scorching the pages with pleasures of the flesh and emotional highs. As sub and dom play their roles, Ms. Snow reveals the subtle control the sub has over the master, and the gentle caring of the master towards his submissive.

The story requires the reader to suspend a few beliefs, such as the willingness of a woman who has only had sex once in her life, to engage in the exploits of the evening so quickly and naturally with little physical pain and minimal emotional fallout. The admissions of love are also a bit fast and aren’t based on the slow revelation of the characters getting to know one another over time.

Accepting a certain level of skepticism, riding the wave, and allowing your mind to skim over those elements which tend to be well-developed in longer romance novels, Blush: A Story of Dominance and Submission is a highly enjoyable and hot read; one which will get your juices flowing as well as tapping into the part of you that is submissive or dominant—or both.

I recommend this book as an enjoyable steamy read. Refreshing and fun, yet hot and erotic. Another great story by Ms. Snow.

Short sweet story. Nothing to crazy. Good light read. If anyone is looking for hardcore BDSM, this isn't the book. For those who like their vanilla with a bit of kink, this is the book for you. I've re-shelved as glitterkink.

Blush: A Story of Dominance and Submission, revolves around Kasia, the 27-year-old “plain Jane” medical receptionist who secretly lusts after her handsome boss, Ronan Devlin. Not only is the object of Kasia’s affection a doctor, but he has an Irish accent so sexy it should be considered illegal (or, at the very least, a superpower – capable of dropping panties in a single syllable). As sexually inexperienced as she is, Kasia still yearns for something more than her current vanilla sex life. So, at the urging of her more free-spirited and adventurous friend, Tatiana, Kasia soon finds herself entering the heavy wooden doors of Cimmerian, a local BDSM club. There, she finds everything she was looking for…

Though flawed, Jenika Snow’s Blush was a smokin’ hot read. Both of the main characters were fairly well developed given the constraints of the story’s word count, and though I can’t speak for Snow’s ability to get into the mindset of a Dom, I’ll say that her ability to write from the perspective of a woman embracing her submissive nature for the first time was superb. In creating the character of Kasia, it was like Snow had laid bare all of my insecurities and tapped into all of my secret desires. It was darn near intoxicating. And the chemistry between the two main characters was so off the charts that it left me saying, "Please sir, I want some more!" after every scene.

With Cimmerian, Snow managed to create a dark, edgy space that begged for – no, demanded - the reader’s attention. It was easy to believe that these characters would meet and lose their inhibitions together inside of this world.

Now for the parts of the story that I didn't like so much:

This is the second D/s-themed short story that I’ve read by Jenika Snow and I’m starting to see a pattern emerge with her female characters. In both Blush and Bittersweet the woman interested in taking control of their sex lives and exploring their sexuality have been receptionists. No disrespect meant to receptionists, but where are the doctors? The lawyers? The CEOs? Oh wait… Snow reserves those types of fulfilling, complex, high-powered careers for her male leads. Well, I have news for Ms. Snow: It’s not the 1950s anymore - highly educated, ambitious women with good careers have fantasies and sexual tastes that run along these lines, too, you know! As a (presumably) highly trained nurse, herself, you’d think Snow would want to show a diverse range of female characters embracing the lifestyle. Okay, I’ll get off my feminist soap box now…

…and get on my ‘defender of the English language’ one instead. I know some people might feel that it’s nit-picky to point this out, but this story was riddled with spelling and grammar errors (not to mention some sentences with entirely missing words). For the love of Pete, please EDIT! And then, get a second party to edit (since editing your own work is almost never effective). Call me a book nerd, but nothing draws me out of a fantasy faster than glaring errors in an otherwise steamy scene.

Verdict: At just over 20,000 words, this story is quick and dirty (but I ain’t sayin’ it like it’s a bad thing)!

Kasia may have seemed out of place at the BDSM club her friend brought her to, but there was more to her than appearances. She had dark desires that seemed to become undone as she watched the submissives in the club get their punishment. As much as she longs to become a part of the action, she doesn't think she can go through with it—until the mystery man she's been eyeing demands her obedience.

Blush was a quick erotic read. It was well written and enjoyable. I would have liked more character development for our hero, but the heroine was likable.

For some hot, kinky BDSM loving, Blush: A Story of Dominance and Submission will heat you up in no time.

Way too short but at the same time, pretty good for it's length.

I did read the series out of order but it doesn't matter as the series does follow the same characters or story line. I did enjoy the next two in the series better then the first.
