When theatrical designer Brandon takes sewing whiz Matheus under his wing, the attraction is instantaneous. From their very first kiss, Matheus knows this relationship will get serious. After two years of working and living together as a married couple, Brandon is offered a too-good-to-be-true job designing for a summer festival. Matheus intends to go with him until he's offered Brandon's old job at the Studio theatre.
The marriage goes long-distance. Just when Matheus misses his husband most, a flirtatious new assistant lands in his lap. Though he's tantalized, Matheus refuses cute Carver's advances. He takes his marriage vows seriously. When Carver suggests "introducing a third into the relationship," Matheus weakens. Would it still be cheating if Brandon were to join in?
There's a reason guys growl for G.R. Richards erotica. You would never know it by the love of public television documentaries and great food in high end restaurants, but G.R. pens some of the world's steamiest guy-on-guy stories. G.R. is no stranger to a bed damp with sweat or the sweetness of bodies pressed against each other. Next time you feel the urge, pour yourself a glass of fine red wine, play some sultry background music, and join G.R. Richards in a world where all the guys get to play... and all the rest get to watch.
This story is told from Matheus’ POV, so you really don’t get much of a feel for his husband Brandon, however, the story starts with the tale of rather spoiled, over-weight and self-conscious Matteus, who is more or less forced into a volunteer job in the theatre after he and his mother have a falling out. His first night, he meets Brandon, the designer who is flamboyant and not at all shy about what he wants. He and Matteus quickly get together that night, which leads to Brandon being Mattheus’ mentor and before long they are in a serious relationship and working together for the tyrant director of their small theatre company. This is followed by marriage, but when Brandon is offered an opportunity that is too good to pass up out of town, they decided to try a long-distance relationship.
Matteus finds it really hard to be alone most of the time, when out of the blue Carver shows up to be his assistant, and makes no bones about wanting to be with Matteus, but he resists because he’s married. However his discussions with Carver get him to open up to Brandon about being lonely, and his attraction to Carver. When Brandon says “go for it”, he just can’t, until Brandon makes a sudden return trip home, and the fun ensues.
I found it a bit hard to get a handle on them as a couple because the action in the book takes place after they are already married and living apart, and you only have Matteus to tell you how it was and how they feel. Because it’s solely Matteus’ point of view, I’m not sure if Brandon was feeling as equally alone in is new job, or what was going on with him while away. I was never sure where Carver came from either. He just kind showed up with a pizza one night, and Matteus put him to work.
The sex was kind of fun and hot, and there was some added humour, but the whole point of Matteus hooking up with Carver was so that he would feel less lonely with Brandon away, and yet Matteus decided to only be with Carver if Brandon is there too. So I wasn’t sure what good that did, except to let Matteus, who had no romantic relationships before Brandon, experiment a bit. Maybe in theory the relationship builds beyond playing, but when the book ends I never got the impression there was any great love between Carver and the two, but they were all willing to have a good time.
So while I liked the writing and the descriptions of the theatre culture were interesting and amusing to me, I was a bit mystified by the whole relationship dynamic and felt I never really knew Matteus and Brandon as a couple, despite being told how much they loved each other.

This short story doesn't offer a lot of plot and the blurb pretty much sums it up. The menage scene at the end is written well. This was a short read and fans of erotica might enjoy this one.
An okay read, though I wasn't a fan of the potentially cheating aspect of it. Also, the solution in this book is like putting a bandage on a gaping wound, it's only going to do so much. I would have liked to see Matt and Brandon work out their problems and come up with a good solution that would work long time, not come up with a reason to have a threesome.
1. 5 stars Another story waiting tbr, til today. Sadly, this wasn't a winner as well. Somehow the writing throughout the story, the voice of Matheus, kept me detached from all MCs.
