I'm not one of those people who knew from birth she was destined to become a writer. I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer.

Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged.

After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist.

Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love.

I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing.

I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains.

Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way.

Another good book in this series, with the second brother Wyatt now being the hero. While his sister's kidnapping led to Gage joining the FBI, Wyatt turned to writing, in order to understand the psyche of those who commit crimes. His next story is one the heroine's brother, a cop convicted of murdering his girlfriend and her mother.

The heroine believes in her brother's innocence even if no-one does and at first knowing the hero wanted to write about her mother, made her angry but then she saw the advantage of it. I have to say the heroine was one tenacious chick, her childhood was lonely, a mentally sick mother and a distant judge father, so her brother Hunter was the only one there for her, so she is there for him. She leaves medical school to study law, to help her brother. She joins forces with the hero for this purpose who at first doesn't believe her but then new evidence keeps coming up and so do the threats. I liked the mystery aspect though the thing with the missing sister was fairly obvious and convenient. I am now off to read the next in the series.

This was an emotional, fast-paced, and complex story, the second in the series "TheSearchers." More than twenty years earlier, Wyatt's younger sister had been kidnapped, the strain of the event tearing his family apart. Both Wyatt and his older brother, Gage (Nowhere to Hide), were torn up with guilt over the kidnapping, each blaming himself for not stopping it. Gage dealt with his guilt by becoming an FBI agent, working in the Crimes Against Children unit. Wyatt coped by writing books about crimes to understand the mindset of people who commit them. Neither man has stopped searching for their sister, always hopeful that she will be found. Wyatt's latest project is the story of a cop who has been convicted of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and her mother.

Taylor is the sister of the convicted murderer. She adores her big brother and knows that there is no way that Hunter is guilty. A few classes shy of graduating from medical school, she quit that and transferred to law school, determined to find a way to prove her brother innocent and set him free. She is horrified to find out that Wyatt has been interviewing Hunter because she knows that Wyatt's books are slanted toward the side of the victims. She has been looking for proof for two years to help with the appeal but has been constantly stonewalled and frustrated by the lack of help from Hunter's attorney, a long-time friend of the family. When her roommate suggests that she take her information to Wyatt in hopes that he will help her find the truth, Taylor is wary but willing to try anything.

Wyatt was intrigued by Taylor from the time he met her at Hunter's trial. He is skeptical of her claims of Hunter's innocence but wants his book to be accurate. As he and Taylor work together, Wyatt quickly realizes that there are more questions than answers in what they find out. There is also a strong attraction between them, something that neither of them is happy about at first. Taylor doesn't need or want the distraction. Wyatt is afraid that it will affect his ability to be impartial, but he also can't deny that he feels protective of her, especially once he finds out about the threats she has received. The longer they worked together on Hunter's case, the closer they got. That same closeness also had Wyatt running scared. He had spent years with walls built around his heart, letting no one inside as a way to protect himself from the pain of any more loss. But Taylor had gotten inside, and he didn't know quite how to deal with it. It took nearly losing her to make Wyatt realize the depth of his feelings for her. Taylor recognized her feelings sooner, but there were things going on that made her believe that Wyatt didn't return her feelings. I loved the ending when all the misunderstandings were cleared up. Wyatt's vulnerability as he confessed his feelings was heartwrenching.

The question of Hunter's innocence or guilt was very well done. I ached for Taylor, who had given up everything that was important to her to try to get justice for her brother. Her determination was amazing and had led her to some information that raised questions about his conviction. Wyatt was convinced of Hunter's guilt but impressed by Taylor's belief in her brother. I liked the way that he was open-minded enough to listen to what Taylor had to say. The search for the truth also put a target on Taylor's back, as threats warned her to back off, and her house was set on fire as a warning. As she and Wyatt delved deeper into what led up to the murders, multiple suspects were uncovered. Was it the fiancée's married lover? Or did it have something to do with her investigation into police corruption? Could it have something to do with the fiancée's mother? Or had Hunter pissed off one too many of his fellow cops? The final unraveling of the mystery had some unexpected twists to it. The final confrontation was intense and had me wondering just how Taylor was going to get out of it. I loved her determination and ingenuity as she fought for her life. The final revelations showed what a tangled web it had been.

Also running through the book was the continuing search for Wyatt and Gage's kidnapped little sister. We see how the kidnapping affected Wyatt, both as a child and as an adult. I ached for Wyatt and the guilt he still feels. A lead comes in an unexpected way, and Wyatt's excitement is palpable. That same excitement creates some problems, as he doesn't share what is happening with Taylor and she misconstrues what she sees. The ending was amazing with one mystery solved, but questions still remaining.

Loved it!

The passion, the loyalty, & the tenaciousness of Taylor for her innocent brother. Knowing he didn't commit the crimes he had been sentenced to. She changed her direction in life to further her cause. Lots of things in play, including a family friend who was stalling. Enter Wyatt, a writer of thrillers, to help her research. Both have feelings for the other, but they are trying to hide it. Great twists & turns! Also, there is an unexpected "joy" that is revealed, too. Enjoy! 📚🎉❤️🌻

Ripples lead to waves lead to events that change lives

As a mystery that has lots of twists and turns this novel is first rate. As a romance it is interesting, but I am a little tired of reading about men who won't voice their feelings . The best thing about this novel, in my opinion, is the way the events in people's lives interlock and bring resolution to long-standing events and tie people together when they start not knowing of a connection. This story really proves the adage "It's a very small world".

After her brother is convicted of murdering his girlfriend and his unborn child, Taylor Bradshaw refuses to believe he is guilty and turns to crime writer Wyatt McKinnon to prove his innocence. A story were a conviction looks like it will never be turned over. Clue after clue brings Tay closer to her death as well as her bothers. Its only when she teams up with Wyatt that things begin to happen... both with her brothers case and with her heart. 5 stars.

This was great! Especially for a harlequin romance! Taylor Bradshaw has given up her dreams of being a doctor to go to law school to help her brother, who was falsely accused of murder and is on death row, to reopen his case and prove his innocence! She meets author Wyatt McKinnon who is writing a book about her brothers case from the point of view of the victims and she sways him to try to help her brother- if the real murderer lets her live! Good mystery and ok romance!
