Amylea Lyn is a little odd, a lot weird, and just plain strange. At least that's what everyone tells her. She lives in Nevada, filling her laptop with too many stories to count and trying to ignore the yells of her football-obsessed siblings in the background. Most days, Amylea can be found sitting in her favorite chair after work, bugging those around her for fun tidbits to make her stories more interesting. When she's not writing, Amylea spends her time daydreaming her fantasies while talking to herself without realizing it, experimenting with different baked dishes that she force feeds her brothers, and plotting ways to get back at her psychotic cat. All in all, she likes to think of herself as pretty normal... even if it's only by her own standards.

Aiden is the head of psychiatry at a mental facility. One of his patients, Cael, is an 18 year old kid who has been in the facility for around a month. Cael does not speak or communicate in any way. He draws in his sketch pad but he panics if anyone tries to see his drawings. Eventually during one of his sessions with Aiden, he begins to open up a bit and shows Aiden his drawings. What Aiden sees are horrific depictions of violent acts that have occurred in the facility late at night... attacks on Cael and possibly other patients. Aiden immediately calls Jake, his partner of six years who just happens to be a police officer. Within minutes the facility is swarming with law enforcement. Cael is grabbed and then rescued at the last second by Jake and that bad guy gets away. Aiden and Jake eventually take Cael to their home for protection (presumably) until the kidnapper/rapist is caught. It doesn't take long before their protection turns into a menage situation with Cael. Oh, and Cael has a special ability that is not drawn out much. Sure, it's brought up a few times but I felt that the author could have added more in that regard instead of focusing so much on the relationship between Cael, Aiden and Jake. This ability does help in the resolution of the story. I do give the author credit for the way that played out even if it was a little confusing at first (the riddles, etc. in Cael's last dream).

There's your story. The bad guy gets away. Cael goes home with his psychiatrist and ends up in his and his partner's bed. Eventually the bad guy shows up again, there is a bit of drama and then they all live happily ever after.

This book angered me. It is disturbing on so many levels that I don't know where to begin. I will say that I loved Cael. A lot. He is a child (regardless of his age, he is still a child according to the way he is written) who has been in and out of foster care since he was 7 years old. He is brought into Aiden's facility where he is violated night after night by two different men. Aiden has a problem getting Cael to communicate and when he does? It turns into a sexual thing for the doctor and his life partner . He takes him home for his own protection (it says) and does Aiden try talking to the kid? Counseling him about what he had gone through? The rapes? What brought him to the mental facility in the first place? No. Nothing is ever mentioned again about the sexual assaults until the end of the book when one of the rapists shows up and makes lewd comments. It was all about making Cael the third in the relationship. Cael shows zero signs of distress over the rapes after his initial confession to Aiden. It's like the author decided to use that in the beginning to make the plot of the story but did not follow through. Aiden is a PSYCHIATRIST. He takes Cael to his HOME. Not ONCE during the time Cael lived with Aiden and Jake did either try to talk to him about the horrific attacks that he had endured.

There is a lot of talk in the book about Cael being a "former patient" and that those two words should justify the sexual relationship. I totally disagree. Cael was still Aiden's patient when he left the hospital. Even had he not been, it still would not have been right. It was completely unethical. Cael is a quiet, disturbed, terrified young man and what I saw was a man (men) in authority taking advantage of him. Then there is the sex. As I mentioned above, Cael had been brutally raped several times by two men in the facility. But yet when he had sex with Aiden and Jake there was no fear or trepidation in regards to the act... before, during or after. I know that everyone handles specific situations in different ways and I in no way consider myself to have a vast amount of knowledge on recovery. But if you look at Cael in the beginning of this book you see a terrified young man. I can't see that terrified child suddenly being able to handle the aftermath of the sexual assaults as if they never happened.

Doctor/patient confidentiality went completely out the window. Aiden had no qualms discussing anything and everything about Cael to pretty much whoever would listen.

Aiden and Jake have been in a committed, FAITHFUL relationship for over 6 years and then suddenly they are both eager to welcome Cael in their bed and in their hearts. There is no jealousy by either one. They both are suddenly eager to welcome a third though this has never been something either had even considered before.

I understand suspending belief when it comes to fiction. I am all about doing so if the story is good. I could not do it in this case. What some may see as a nice menage situation where three men come together and fall in love and live happily ever after, what I see is a disturbed young man being taken advantage of by two men who are in positions of authority.

I do not give bad reviews often and it's very rare for me to give only one star but I feel that in this case I have no choice. I am obviously in the minority if other reviews are to go by. Different strokes, I guess.

This is a very touching story about a devoted couple, Aidan and Jake, finding themselves attracted to an abused young man. They end up taking him home only to find out that there is far more behind Cael's fears than they ever imagined.

I loved all three of these characters. Even though Aiden and Jake are physically strong and emotionally fairly robust, they need Cael's sensitivity. Cael, in turn, has finally found the home he always wanted, but remains afraid it's going to be taken away from him if he doesn't behave as expected. It takes him a long time to really believe that he is now safe.

Recommended to anyone who loves a touch of the paranormal in their stories.

What a wonderful story that left a smile on my face at the end. These three just worked for me even though they was an age difference between them and Cael. For some this story may be too sweet, but for me enjoyable nonetheless and I liked the slight paranormal aspect of it.

Aiden and his lover Jacob share a wonderful, if hectic, life. Aiden is a psychiatrist and while his job is stressful helping his patients makes it all worthwhile. Lately though he's been a bit frustrated with the lack of success at getting through to Cael, one of his young patients. When he discovers that Cael's being abused he turns to Jacob, who's a policeman, for help. Unfortunately one of the abusers escapes putting both Cael and Aiden in danger. The couple decide to bring Cael into their own home for protection but soon their lives aren't the only thing in danger, their hearts are too. Despite never having been interested in bringing a third into their relationship both Aiden and Jacob develop feelings for the younger man and when Cael returns their feelings they decide to include him in their relationship. However Aiden and Jacob are in for another surprise when Cael makes a surprising revelation about himself. Will they be able to handle his secret, their new feelings and the danger stalking them all or will a madman end their dreams of a happy future?

Dream a Little Dream is the first story I've ready by this author and for the most part I enjoyed it. The author does a good job of showing Aiden and Jacob's life before Cael is added to the mix which helps to establish them as a loving, happy couple so that when their feelings for Cael start to grow their doubts and reservations add a realistic touch. They are a committed couple and their attraction to a third is a big surprise to them although once they accept it and decide to go forward there's hardly any hesitation. For his part Cael is a young man who's suffered a lot in his short life. Despite his feelings for the two men it's hard for him at times to really believe they could love and want him in their lives. There have been many changes in his life, most bad, but deep down he's a sweet gentle guy with an uncommon gift and a need to be loved. I liked all three of the characters especially the fact that they are three distinct individuals with their own doubts, fears and needs. It was interesting to see how they slowly started to connect, first as doctor, patient and protector and then on to friends and lovers.

The element of Cael's abuse, which does include rape although it's not graphic, is a bit difficult to read about at times and so this story may not be for everyone. The scenes towards the end of the story with the abuser and Cael, Aiden and Jacob are suspenseful and a bit violent but overall well written and interesting. There are plenty of 'nice' scenes throughout, and quite a bit of hot sex scenes as well, to compensate for the dark tone during some parts of the story. I did have one personal issue with the story and that was how the age gap was sometimes shown. Aiden and Jacob are both around thirty years old and Cael turns nineteen during the story, not a huge gap at all but it sometimes felt off to me how they would think about their 'sweet boy' and Cael himself would, when he had bad periods, think of himself as a 'bad boy'. He's over eighteen so it's not anything illegal it just sometimes felt a bit off to me. For the most part though it's not a problem, in fact most of the story is quite sweet perhaps even a bit too sweet at times.

Overall I liked Dream a Little Dream. The writing is solid, the protagonists likable and engaging and their developing relationship interesting. Cael's special gift was also quite interesting to read about and the storyline of his abuse and how he handles it at the end is well done. The epilogue is sweet and clearly shows a HEA future for the three men. I look forward to reading more stories by Amylea Lyn in the future. Recommended.

Aiden is a Dr. at a psychiatric hospital who is starting to burn out and is especially touched by one young man Cael who is nearly 19 but there on observation. Cael has never spoke and always carries a sketch pad. He finally gets a breakthrough and is shocked to find that Cael has been sexually abused at the hospital along with other patients. He calls in his cop lover Jake and the perp gets away. It's decided that it would be best if Aiden stays in protective custody and they convince them to let Cael stay with them. Cael was in foster care since he was 7 and has a special power. He can dream the future. Both Aiden and Jake are attracted but don't want to push until eventually they give in to their feelings only to have the bad guy show up again. On the whole I enjoyed this, I was maybe a bit squicked by the fact that Adien had been Cael's Dr., and he was quite a bit younger than the men, I also though Aiden and Jake kind of jumped on the "three-whee" bandwagon pretty quickly after being exclusive for 6 years but despite these little niggles I enjoyed it, but I am a sucker for taking in the lost broken little waif and healing him with love and acceptance. It's a weakness, what can I say?

Started to read this book and realised that I've already read it before. You can see what an impact it had on me.
It's not a very realistic story, rape is just used as a tool so one MC can have a terrible past and the other two can go all "Aww, you poor baby" on him.
Can't stand books where one man calls his partner "my poor baby" in his head, just puts me off. This book reads like a woman tried to write male characters but has no idea how. Cael and his dreams had potential but Aiden and the other guy (can't even remember the name) were just chicks-with-dicks to me, sorry.
I don't want to write a long review because Cindi said most of the things I object to already in her review. So check hers out if you want to know more.

A Sweet story of a more mature established couple, Aiden and Jake meeting and literally saving 18 year old Cael.

Once I decided to not care about those issues, it was a very (very) sweet story, about a used and abused young man finding unconditional love and belonging.

This ended slightly short of 4 stars because by the end of it, I had a little too much of the sweet lovey-dovey, 'you-poor-baby' stuff between the two men and Cael. It was great at first and Cael tugged at my heart strings but by the time I got 3/4 through, those strings were badly in need of tuning!

So I've run off to read Jez Morrow's Sovereign's Gladiator.

A good menage story with a paranormal twist. Aiden and Jake, a committed couple take in a sexually abused adult teen. Cael has the ability to draw the future. I personally thought that Aiden and Jake were pushing things by wanting to bed Ca el after just two days. As a whole, this was a sweet story of trust giving way to happiness. Great HEA ending.

This is a very sweet story about an established couple who take a younger, damaged man into their home and their hearts. I really liked the tender way Aiden and Jacob cared for and loved Cael. I do wish the story had been longer.

2.75, a likable story with barely a suspense, coupled with a touch of paranormal and very nice heroes. It would have been a 3 if it weren't that it had the "baby, baby, baby" all over the story which is a personal peeve, and the mystic repetitive riddle at the end with Sam didn't help either.
