Katie MacAlister

For as long as she can remember, Katie MacAlister has loved reading. Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. Despite her love for novels, she didn't think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Since her editor refused to allow her to include either witty dialogue or love scenes in the software book, Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, where she could indulge in world building, tormenting characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes.

Two years after she started writing novels, Katie sold her first romance, Noble Intentions. More than thirty books followed during the years after Noble's publication. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and placed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell, and for the mystery world as Kate Marsh.

Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dogs, and can often be found lurking around online.

3.5/5.0 stars. Considering this was the first book I've read by KM, and this is not the first dragon book, I think I did pretty well, although I was confused initially. It was a fun read, but it didn't blow me away. I think I would have enjoyed this more if the narrative didn't seem so disjointed. I'm not sure that 1st person POV lends itself well to this sort of story.

I love Katie MacAlister's writing. She never fails to make me laugh.
This is straight fluff reading & it makes my heart feel good. If your not into over-the-top love, hot, manly, arrogant but absolutely devoted to their women, man/dragons, & women who are strong, obvious know better than their stubborn males, & have amazing talents of their own, then this isn't a book for you. Oh! Let's don't forget the smart mouthed, sex obsessed, laugh inducing, low level demon in dog form (well, most the time), who loves to suck on the ears of his love, a Welsh Corgi named Cecile. I've loved these stories from the beginning of the Aisling Grey book series. This book was no exeption, & better than the last one. Baltic, the main male of this couple, has ever been the bad guy & now we find out his story & that of the love of his life, Ysolde, both of whom have been resurrected. It's a good light read so I could never really give it more than a 4/5, but for it's genre, it's a top pick.

I loved the continuation of Baltic and Ysolde/Tully's story. The humor is great especially when you add it big bad dragon fighting like school children with Ysolde acting as the mother hen. I love how the wyvern mares stick together and those of us who a Katie Mac's dragons fans still get to see glimpse of what goes on in a characters life once their individual series has ended. I'm a big Aisling fan! I'm interested to see if once she is done with the light dragons she will move on to the black dragons and get Kostya a "real" mate. I've neve liked Cyrene. It would be cool if it were Maura Lo. Also, I LOVE the introduction of Constantine thought he does remind me a bit of Magoth from what little we saw of him. Overall this is one in will continue to re-read for a while.

As usual when MacAlister "puts pen to paper", hilarity ensues.

While not quite as humorous as the first in the Light Dragons series, this second book is quite funny but has much more intrigue and is much sexier (caramel is involved at one point and handcuffs at another - puuuurrrrrrr). Sexy alpha dragons, edicts from a quasi-god, rescues, a kidnapping attempt, a resurrection, a summoning, more visions, betrayal and serious romance - they may be arrogant bull-headed alpha males but they do romance very, very well - Ysolde has an interesting life. And in true MacAlister style, there are strong, smart females who play these sexy alpha males like fiddles. It is delightful to "watch".

On the sexy scale of 1-4, I'd rate this as a 3.5 - so many interesting places and did I mention the caramel, not to mention the talk of chocolate?

This is a story continuation from the first book but could be read as a stand alone - but it is better to have read the series in order. Characters from MacAlister's other series make appearances here but if you haven't read them, it isn't an issue because MacAlister is that good at creating characters that come alive and story lines that draw you in. If you need to know the background of something, it is provided, if just a mere mention is all that is required, it is weaved in seamlessly.

Paranormal romance, urban fantasy and dragon genre fans should not miss this series. Delightfully witty, sexy and full of action, you will love this book.

I wanted so badly to like this one. I loved the first book in this series. I loved the characters. I loved the humor and found myself constantly laughing out loud. I loved Baltic even though everyone thought he was the bad guy in the beginning. I loved his and Ysoldes love story and flash backs to how they met. I was invested in these characters and I was disappointed.

The most interesting part of this book for me were the last couple of chapters. Everything started to pick up and things actually started happening. Unfortunately the other good parts were brief and far between. There were several scenes I wished I would have just skipped. They added nothing to the story. I think they were meant to make me laugh, but I just couldn't find them funny. Some moments I could see something was meant to be funny or a joke and I just couldn't find it funny.

Baltic was verging on horrible and maybe was just that, but I have left over feelings for him from the last book. He seems to want to share everything with Ysolde except information. He doesn't give a little not on important or unimportant things. He seems to share with everyone but her. She asks he denies her the information. She shrugs says she loves him and goes on. She asks he distracts her with sex and then they love each other and go on. What? Really? I think some of his evasive moments are suppose to be funny, but they are far from it. And I'm so sick of Ysolde knowing nothing. I mean really nothing. And the man who loves her seems to like keeping it that way.

I'll be honest I'm not sure I will read the next one. But I tend to be a glutton for punishment once I start a series, so I may hope for better next time and read it anyway.

Rawh! (In a sexy kind of purr!) Baltic and Ysolde breath new life in the dragon series by Katie MacAlister. The second book in the Light Dragon series has lots of fun adventures, hilarity and of course dragons being all dragon-y. (Again, rawh!) Only Ysolde can turn a demon into a man and harness the power of a banana all while trying to keep her family safe and fulfilling the request of the first dragon. And none of the dragon books would be the same without Jim, in human or doggie form the demon is a hoot.

My heart will forever belong to the Green dragons but the Light dragons come a close second.

The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons is a fun read and a good story line with strong characters, old and new. Can't wait until the next book is released.

Book gave me few chuckles, but way too much flashbacks. Some characters are just redundant, Ysolde/Tully's offspring that is. Not even his penchant of mummifying things redeems his existence.
Ysolde/Tully is totally redeemed by her healthy appreciation of hot male on male action, and in addition she becomes quite a cook. The plot though... Well, at least we have some chuckles about chubby dragons.

The beginning of this novel was extremely confusing. It had been around 6 months since I'd read the first one, so naturally I was a bit rusty on the details. But even with the recaps that were provided, there was just so much going on and so many different dragon colours that I couldn't remember which Septs liked each other and which didn't, or why. I very nearly gave up all together. There is quite a large cast and several different subplots, so this only added to my confusion. It took until around the halfway point until I actually felt committed to the story. And even then I was often having to urge myself to continue because I'd already gotten so far, and also because the first book was so good I felt sure any minute now that past magic would emerge. It didn't.

I was also not really feeling the love towards Baltic in this one. I forgave him his high-handed ways in the first book because of what he'd been through and because he'd been alone for so long, and so naturally he would insist Ysolde stay constantly by his side now that he'd found her again, etc. But in this one his rants just got on my nerves. I know the Wyvern are meant to be all domineering and the mates submissive and obedient and all that jazz, but I just don't know how Ysolde can handle it. I found it unrealistic that she would discover that her mate had been bald-faced lying about where he had spent the last couple of days one minute and in the next instance, when he ever so kindly says that he will "allow" her to do erotic things to him, she thinks he's all wonderful again. I'm sorry, what? I realize it's meant to be so over-the-top bossy that it's funny, but mostly I just found it annoying.

Another thing that annoys me with Baltic is his refusal to tell Ysolde anything; either with regards to his plans and whereabouts as mentioned before, or things to do with the past. Poor Ysolde has had her memory altered and has to rely on flashbacks and visions to help her recall things from their previous life, so any little nugget of information about past events would be helpful. But Baltic remains tight-lipped on anything he deems upsetting to her, or if it's something concerning another male, he withholds through jealousy or some other bull**** reason. I wanted to slap him on more than one occasion.

I really hope Katie MacAlister does something to restore this series to the former glory of book one. It showed so much promise and was so much funnier and more romantic than this one.

Colour me disappointed.

This is the second book in this series, & because I waited so long to read it, I got confused.

This is the ressurected (sp) from death story of the Black dragon Baltic & his half dragon mate Ysolde who are at war with the other dragon septs (Blue, Red, Green & Silver). Really it's by name only & all the wives are friends.

Baltic Is accused of dkilling a mass of blue dragons & other crimes he didn't commit & Ysolde has 3 things she has to do for 3 different people to restore her magic, get Baltic back in the wyr (dragon terms??) And figure out how to get the first dragon back his son's honor.

It's a bunch of back & forth & you definitely have to read the first book to get it all. I just really wish I could marry a dragon!

It was supposed to be funny, but a lot of times I found it annoying. The humor takes up a lot of this book, but it wasn't that funny. I laughed a couple times, but I think I was supposed to laugh 20 times.

This series is good, but if you haven't been reading from book 1 to book whatever, you can get lost in some of the references.
Ysolde has been raised from the dead with a severe memory loss, that she's slowly recovering. Her husband Baltic has also been raised from the dead. Baltic has also been accused of several acts of violence and murder that he says that he did not commit. Ysolde is bound and determined that she's going to get to the bottom of this no matter what the outcome is. She wants the truth. There are parts that you can't help but laugh at. The females who are proactive freedom loving women, the males who want to lock up their women folk where they are safe and out of the way, and all that goes between. It's hilarious.

What do you expect from the middle book in a trilogy? Entertainment, always. It was definitely entertaining. There was also more plot building from the first book, “Love in the Time of Dragons.” There was at least a little bit of resolution, as well. I think the main thing I would ask from the middle book in a trilogy is that it drives me to want to read the final book. It did do that. I’ve got my copy of “Sparks Fly” right here and I'm reading it now. If you’re a fan of Katie MacAlister’s dragons, I think you’ll enjoy the time you spend reading “The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons.” If you’re new to the series, treat yourself to starting at the beginning with “You Slay Me”. It was Aisling Grey that hooked me into this series. She appears in this trilogy, too.

Getting tired of caveman dragons, you are my mate, do what I say, I will protect you, blah blah blah. Then there is Ysolde, who is dead, then not, then dead, then not, who can't remember her past life, then some, then not. Tired of Baltic saying "The old Ysolde...." I like strong women characters, but constantly going behind the backs of the guys to do it doesn't mean they are strong, just that they have disfunctional relationships. I did like parts of it, but it had too many problems to really enjoy it, and I kept thinking, "This could have been so much better...."

*Meinung:*

Reihe:
Dragon Love - Feuer und Flamme für diesen Mann
Dragon Love - Manche lieben's heiß
Dragon Love - Rendezvous am Höllentor
Dragon Love - Höllische Hochzeitsglocken

Silver Dragons – Ein brandheißes Date
Silver Dragons – Viel Rauch um Nichts
Silver Dragons – Drachen lieben heißer

Light Dragons – Drache wider Willen
Light Dragons – Eine feurige Angelegenheit

2nd part of the whiz-bang Dragon trilogy, Ysolde and Baltic's love story. If you've read the first book get ready for this one.

Ysolde and Baltic have been reunited and now are trying to meld together their domestic lives. But, things are not progressing easily with Baltic's lieutenant, Thala, snarling at Ysolde, the shade of Constantine pleading for Ysolde, and same Ysolde dropping dead unexpectedly. Hence, the whiz-bang.

I really enjoy reading this author. The conversations her characters have are so natural and so hilarious it keeps me smiling throughout the book. The characters talk over each other and have several conversations going at once. Their jealousy’s and misunderstandings and outrageous reactions are incredibly funny. If you want a lighthearted fun book that still has plenty of action and plot twist I definitely recommend her

I have read the previous books, so I knew what was going on in this series... but if you haven't then you will be very very lost. I liked finally reading about Baltic and Tully is definitely a match for him. Twists and turns and a very grumpy dragon, Baltic is beautifully grumpy and wonderfully loyal and to see his more humanised qualities really made him a beautiful character to watch grow.

Tully and Baltic grow closer - Baltic trying to control her (though motivated by wanting her safety)... her visions continue... and the first dragon's edict that she restore his son's honor has her trying to talk to Constantine's ghost - until she finds out Baltic is the son in question... hmmmmmm...

Enjoyable, not memorable. Each of the three three-book dragon series can be read alone, but they make more sense together. With this series, I'm having a bit of trouble coming around to the main character's love interest; he has been the villain in all six previous books and I don't find the justifications and history to be as believable as I would prefer.
