Ginny Aiken, a former newspaper reporter, lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and their three younger sons--the oldest is married, has flown the coop, and made her a doting grandmother. Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in Valencia and Caracas Venezuela, Ginny discovered books at an early age. She wrote her first novel at age fifteen while she trained with the Ballets de Caracas, later to be known as the Venezuelan National Ballet. She burned that tome when she turned a "mature" sixteen. An ecletic list of jobs--including stints as reporter, paralegal, choreographer, language teacher, retail salesperson, wife, mother of four boys, and herder of their numerous and assorted friends, including the 135 members of first the Crossmen and then the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps--brought her back to books in search of her sanity. She is now the author of twenty-seven published works, but she hasn't caught up with that elusive sanity yet.

First thought first page in "I feel like I have read this book before..."

It doesn't start out great. Lauren is nearly run down by a lexus (all cars have makes and sometimes models) while David watched. Fortunately he more or less warns her and no serious damage is done. She doesn't want to have the hit and run investigated and when David pushes she straight up tells him her brother's ghost is trying to kill her. Cue the 'this lady is crazy' moment for David.

HOWEVER for an FBI agent, David REALLY lacks basic civility when saying things like "Listen lady," to Lauren, which automatically annoyed me. Not to mention the "I'm FBI" he pulls on her when she starts insisting she doesn't want to pursue legal action against the mysterious driver. So what did he expect? Not for her to become his next assignment? Yeah. That happened and it was about there I began to speed read because this story is one I'm sure I read before.

Turns out there's a reason I couldn't quite pinpoint if I was rereading something and that's because I found this book quite, well, awful, to be honest (I am SO sorry). I don't think I finished this the first time I read it, and based on what a gleamed this time around (speed reading progressed to page skipping at this point), it was probably a good thing. I should have made a note somewhere the first time to never read it again, like I'm doing now.

To me there was no real chemistry between Lauren and David. Everything felt so...unnatural and a little bit forced. Lauren had a hard time trusting David for a bit due to personal reasons and the fact he was a bit of a pushy a$$ in the beginning. Honestly though, Dottie & Bea had more personality than either of the lead characters.

The plot was some crazy, yet fully expected of christian suspense romance action. I wasn't a huge fan of how everything was wrapped up, but whatever. By that point I was just aiming to get the book over with and on with my life (so sorry...).

Conclusion

Never giving this another reread. I reviewed it this time to make sure I make good on this promise to myself. I would not recommend this because I know of some other Christian Suspense Romance that involve the 'mob' and evil brothers that are more read worthy.

All in all, not my cup of tea but I'm sure other people could like it.

Not a bad read overall, I enjoyed the basic storyline but was disappointed in Lauren & David. I found them difficult to visualise & a bit bland, where was the spark between them? I expect the lead characters to be more convincing & less insipid. On the other hand I thought Grandma Dottie & Bea were great eccentric characters & I'd like to read more about them.

In some ways it was pretty similar to the first in its series, but I liked the twists.

This line of books always has a mystery, a simple romance and a gentle Christian message. Not a lot of depth but an easy read. This particular book started ok but by the conclusion I was shaking my head. Crazy plot with an equally crazy conclusion. Just so-so

David is on his way to pick up his Grandma when he prevents a car from running over a woman and a young child. At the time he doesn't know that Lauren and her nephew Mark are going to be his next assignment. David works for the FBI and Lauren's brother was being investigated for suspected ties to the mob when he was supposedly killed in a car crash.

David and Lauren are thrown together and both try not to let the budding feelings take control of what is going on around them. Lauren is having a hard time trusting David and her faith is being tried to the max.

I liked this installment of The Mob trilogy. I have one more to go. It is well written and I like how the faith aspect is woven in and doesn't overwhelm the story. You don't feel like it is being shoved down your throat like it can is some christian fiction.
