The ponies are having an ice-skating party, and each pony plans to share a special skating trick. But Pinkie Pie doesn't even know how to skate! Will she be able to learn in time for the party?
It's ponies ice skating, sure to delight younger kids even if it doesn't make a lot of sense if you actually think about the plot - like Pinkie Pie learning to jump, twirl, and do a spiral in a single day.
I am not a fan of all the little pictures replacing words. I know this is a thing in some early readers, but frankly I don't know why, especially when the pictures are replacing easy words like "bed." And in this book it's confusing whether the picture means, for example, "crowns" or "tiaras," so you have to keep checking the key at the start of the book. (Yes, you have to keep checking and not just make it up if you are reading the book to kids because otherwise they'll start screaming, "MOM didn't read it that way," or whatever!)
I guess you learn something every day. Today I learned that ponies can ice skate. And not only ice skate, but bipedal ice skating. And all this time I thought ponies were quadrupeds. Silly me.
The plot isn't the worst plot I've ever read in a beginner book. And the moral of the story (i.e. it takes work, not good luck, to get better) is worth it. But, well, the whole thing is so stupid. And it is very annoying that many of the words are replaced by little pictures. It is hard to remember exactly what word is necessary for each picture, and you have to go all the way back to the first page to look up any you forget. It shouldn't be that much work to read a book this mundane.
Have you noticed these ponies can stand up and they can ice skate. And if you haven't read it by the way, this has a necklace in it and someone gives it to another person that you can see and it's so beautiful and it's a good luck charm for SKATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was fun because it didn't have all words, you could also read the pictures. I liked the sparkly necklace.I also liked the sparkling costumes. -RJ-
My daughter asked me to rate this book "5 Stars." While it is not a challenging read for a First Grade student, "My Little Pony" fans will love it for the content.
