I haven't fired up my kiln for a very long time, but this is a decent beginner book for someone who wants to dabble. Includes instructions for simple pinch and coiled pots, tiles and the like. I've seen some pretty cheap electric kilns on sale in the past, an interesting, if somewhat messy hobby.
