A pleasure to read an older Australian title and this is one of Thiele's that I hadn't read as a kid. This novel has his customary descriptive skills, the great characters and the landscape as something to battle. February Dragon was my favourite of Thiele's as a teen and while this won't bump that from it's top spot, it was a good read - perfect for those who want to give an adventure to their kids, but don't want any themes that are too adult. ** Content warning for death of an animal as is often the case in his novels.
A fun, fairly harmless story for kids aged 8 - 12. Some good survival tips as well as information about sharks. May be a bit scary for younger kids, mainly just the shark.
Content caution: "holy Moses" used repeatedly, if that bothers you.
My december book review is on the book Shadow Shark written by Colin Thiele. It was a really good book. I liked it because it had lots of twists and keeps you on the edge of your seat. My favorite character is the shark because it’s the reason the story was made and could get you so nervous and curious of what could happen next. My favorite part of the book is when he takes the dog in as his own.
Fanastically written, totally unpredictable, very gripping read! I was half-way through when I jumped online and ordered it for my 14-yr old nephew. (Aussie books aren't always super easy to find in U.S. libraries/bookstores.) This is one of the best ad-lit books I've ever read. I LOVED this book! Soooooo much better than Moby Dick.
