Gives good breakdown of the challenges facing rural American cities as they apply to ethnicity, gender, metro and nonmetro populations. Good statistics to help guide us as we look at the 2010 Census. Discusses of course public policy, as well as theories about communities and how people function within.

Cuz I have to read it. Not very exciting, but I do learn some stuff about rural America and the struggles within the communities. I'm also a little worried about losing agriculutral land to development, which this book addresses. Scary stuff, people.

Read this years ago but great information applicable to rural Americans and especially libraries, I believe.
