A fun easy read for young students. Each section is short with important information highlighted. Lots of pictures so children can link what they are learning with a visual.

I checked this out from the library for my kids but I ended up reading it myself! It is condensed but includes so much. I really enjoyed reading it and think it is a great introduction for kids to U.S. History.

Summary:
This text is an informational book about the United States. It’s useful for the purposes of researching and finding information about the U.S. The images provide the researchers with an illustrative representation of the U.S. and rich text to support the illustrations. The text is full of real life pictures and maps of cities and states all over the U.S.The book also has timelines for students to use and be able to compare with other countries, which is a great reference tool when studying U.S. history. It is a great research tool that encourages students to dig deeper to find more and more information around the topic.]The first Americas, 911, the levels of government, jobs, and the entertainment business are just some of the many topics in the text. The book is organized in a way that makes it user friendly.

Classroom Use/Theme:
I would use this book as a resource the students could use as a reference for research. I think it’s a great tool to use when teaching kids how to use informational books and how to pull the information they need from them to complete their research.
