One of my most-used gardening books. It covers a wide range of plants with the most useful information in a concise format. The 45 climate zone system is very useful and better than USDA hardiness zones. For those living in the Southeast there is a version of this book for Southern gardens called The Southern Living Garden Book which is equally excellent.

After moving from the West Coast to the deep South, I was lost without my Western Garden Book. This is my new #1 go-to garden encyclopedia.

Sunset books are always extremely useful, and more detailed than their fluffier counterparts. I particularly like how they have created far more detailed gardening zones than the simple 1-11 we are used to.
