First off, thanks Stacey for another awesome read! Oftentimes, I enjoy reading novellas, as I can read two or three in a brief span of time. I adore the characters! I seem to be on an angel kick lately?! Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, this was a truly enjoyable read, and now I'm off to read Rebellion. It almost amkes me glad I waited a bit to read this one!

What an amazing novella to start off a new series! I started reading and didn't stop until the last page.

The characters are captivating, the story fantastic and the anticipation for the next installment unbearable!

Every supernatural family must sacrifice their first-born on the day of their 21st birthday in order to stay in favor with the Gods; this sacrifice will ensure prosperity and good fortune for the family. Each sacrifice is assigned a Guardian to watch over them; to keep them alive and out of peril until their day of sacrifice (DOS). I had to stop and appreciate the irony there.

This brings us to Flora a first born twin to a family of successful witches; Flora, to everyone’s chagrin, is living life to its fullest. When you know you’re destined for death since the day you’re born it’s hard not to try and live life to its fullest. On her friend Adrian’s DOS she discovers there's a hit on her from a rival family done in the hopes that her father’s successful business will fail without the blessings her sacrifice will afford them. Flora only has 3 days until her DOS, her guardian literally just resigned and her replacement isn't here yet. Pursued and Guardianless she flees to the very public sacrifice of Adrian, hoping that witnesses will put a stop to the attempt on her life; instead, it earns her a new Guardian in the guise of Julian.

With the help of Julian, Adrian's sexy compassionate Guardian, Flora survives multiple attempts on her life but she also learns that there are secrets and an important prophecy that have been kept from her since her birth. Flora makes it to her DOS but what happens there is anything but what is expected!

Flora makes for a fabulous heroine and Rebellion, the next installment in the series will be highly anticipated.

*This is a combined review for the first three books in the Day of Sacrifice series*

The story begins with Flora waking up - naked after an all-night bender - to her Guardian telling her she quits. A message left for Flora from her sister indicates she is in danger and needs a Guardian more than ever. It is only three days until her day of sacrifice. As the oldest child, at 21 she must give her life for her family. She must be there and alive to grant her family favors from the Gods. It has been tradition in all paranormal families for centuries, but she soon finds out there are many secrets her family her kept from her, including the fact that she is not her family's true sacrifice.

The series follows Flora's struggle to stay alive and her fight against the gods to end the horrible tradition of sacrificing young adults. The Prophecy begins with immediate conflict and drew me quickly into the story. The background information was presented in the action but did not slow down the pacing of the story. Rebellion fits right in where The Prophesy left off, but also works as a stand-alone. The pace is slower in the beginning, but speeds up to keep the story moving. Dormant is another stand-alone but a great addition to the Day of Sacrifice story. While there is not as much action, this story carried the same intensity by playing with my mind.

Each story brings about the development of two different characters and their relationship with each other. They are all involved in the fight against the gods, but each one finds and/or fights for love.

Day of Sacrifice is a fabulous paranormal romance series. I look forward to reading the next story, Takeover, which is set to release in July 2011.

I just read 'Day of Sacrifice' and it was fantastic! This novella is a supernatural love story/action story. I really want to give a great review so you guys will read it right away, but I don't want to give out any spoilers. The characters, Julian and Flora, are awesome. Stacey Benefiel always comes up with the best names for her characters.

The world she has created in 'Day of Sacrifice' is genius and a bit frightening. Living your life knowing that you will be condemning your first born child to death is awful, but what about actually being that child, that sacrifice. No wonder Flora is a wild child, what does her behavior matter when she's going to be dead in a few days just so her father's business will flourish and the Gods are satisfied? I enjoyed this story because the entire time I was reading it I was thinking, "I'd probably do the same exact thing." Live it up while you're still living.

But then there's a twist, as with all great fantasy stories, and Flora is given a new Guardian Angel. Her other one quit, as have the ones before her. And she must go into hiding so she stays safe and alive for the last three days before she is to be sacrificed to the Gods. Those three days are then filled with lust, magical fire fights and prophecies. Read this novella so you're ready for 'Rebellion', due to come out in early 2011!!!!

Day of Sacrifice is a great novella that puts you on the edge of your seat. Imagine a world where the first born child in your family is sacrficed to the gods in order to increase your families wealth. Flora has been raised to know that on her twenty first birthday she will be sacrificed for the good of her family. That in and of itself would be a hard pill to swallow, but at the same time Flora wants to enjoy the short life she has left and is labeled a wild child. The novella encompasses the three days leading up to Flora's Day of Sacrifice. She is running for her life, lusting for her new gaurdian, Julian, and having a prophecy revealed to her that could change everything for all of the sacrifices. You really get pulled into the world that Benefiel has created and don't want the story to end. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of fantasy and the paranormal. Rebellon cannot come soon enough now!

Day of Sacrifice is an amazing story!! I was hooked from the very beginning. The story explores a world in which first born children are expected to be sacrificed to the gods just so their families can gain wealth. I loved the main character Flora, she was headstrong, independent and didn't let anyone push her around.

The story was about a girl who had to grow up dealing with the fact that she was born to die. But being only three days away from her own DOS everything changes. She's attacked and an Angel named Julian is assigned to protect her. Spiraling into a series of events that may change the world they live in.

The story is fast paced and exciting,I was finished before I had even realized I started. So if you want to read a story with action, love, angels and magic you have to read Day of Sacrifice!!!

I didn't really know what to expect from a story this short. It was longer than a short story and shorter than a novella. I'm usually left wanting after reading a short story. I knew I was going to have to review this story, so I was hoping I would like it. I was not disappointed! This is a great little story. It was fun, romantic, and just the thing for someone who wants to read something quick that still has substance. I really liked the characters, and I liked the unusual plot. Good job, Stacey!

I enjoyed the paced and action of this novella. I've never been one to enjoy long, drawn-out detailed descriptions (particularly when it's of the fantasy/paranormal type genre -- I personally do NOT need to constantly know the color of a character's shoes, etc...), so it was a smooth read without a lot of extraneous, superfluous details.

The elements were also well-placed, without making the plot too complicated. I especially liked the sizzling combination of magic/the occult, and hot angels too, tee hee!

Wow, what an original concept for a storyline. An easy read that sucks you in from the start right down to the last word on the last page. I read it in one afternoon and was left wanting more. The characters are well built and thought out, the storyline flowing easily. I fell in love with the two main characters and the relationship that developed between them. Bring on "Rebellion" next year. Congrats on a great book Stacey. :D

Review for both books: Day of Sacrifice and Rebellion/ crossposted from I Work For Books

I found these books over at Smashwords, looking for something short and exciting to read and let me tell you, they didn't disappoint. These two short stories/novellas follow Flora Hamilton, the first-born of the Supernatural Hamilton family and for that, the one who has to be sacrificed on her 21st birthday to the gods, so that their grace continues to provide the family with fortune and luck and prosperity.
Original? I thought so too. I hadn't read anything like that before.

Flora's birthday is in three days and she is trying to live life as passionately as she can, indulging in alcohol consumption, going out and generally being a bit wild... It is after a party that she wakes up hangover and beat. So much that her "guardian angel" quits and it is at that point in time, where she stands so vulnerable that an assassin comes after her. Why? you could ask, she would be sacrificed in three days anyways...
Well, supernatural families rely solely on these sacrifices for the continuation of the prosperity and the maintenance of their extraordinary powers. The sooner they make use of the good fortune, the sooner it exhausts and since a sacrifice is made every 21 years, there is a possibility that the grace of the gods will be exhausted sooner than that. This is what happened to the Fitzerald family, rival to the Hamiltons. They have no more grace left but Mr Fitzerald is hungry for power and as Mr Hamilton doesn't wish to do business with him anymore, he seeks revenge by killing his firstborn, hence taking away his grace as well.

Lucky for Flora, even though she knew she was to be killed, she didn't just have mindless fun, but dedicated herself to practicing the fire magic she possessed, becoming quite the formidable witch. As soon as her sister, Fauna, warns her she barely escapes the assassins attempts to save her, while at the same time her best friend, Aiden, gets sacrificed because he just turned 21. His Guardian, Julian, watched both Aiden and Flora grow up so he hurries to rescue her when she is attacked again out in the street.
Hoping for help, they go to Flora's father but he doesn't want to hear of anything else than preparations for her sacrifice. Consequently, Flora and Julian flee and it is there in his own safe house that they bond and Julian is compelled to reveal to her what is really going on... Something that leads to ... Rebellion...

In the second story we follow Julian and Flora as they try to overturn the regime and make sure that supernatural families are no longer obliged to sacrifice their firstborn child. You'd think most if not all people would jumo at this opportunity and join the rebellion army to save their children right?
Well think again...Some supernaturals really DO NOT want to lose their powers, the first being Fitzerald and Aiden's dad, Mr Grant. His wife and Aiden's mother, Cara Grant, being a powerful witch and a wicked spell/potion maker joins the rebellion and what happens is magical and tragic and dramatic and everything in between.

Can you tell I loved these stories?
I can't believe I have to wait till April for the next story! :(
Even though the first story was 28 pages and the second 38, they felt almost complete. Of course, I' d love it if we could have them expanded and elaborated on, so that we could get an even better feel of Flora, Julian, Fauna, Clark, Abel, Cara, Alexander, Meagan...
The language was nice and it flowed harmoniously, the dialogues and plot were believable and young adults acted the way we expect them to act. It was packed with action with a dash of romance (a generous dash) and adventure and drama, with a little sprinkling of humor. XD

In just a few pages, the author helped us create our own image of the characters in our mind and really get inside their head, as it was described through different people. Not exactly POV, but the characters feelings and thoughts were described.
All characters apart from Grant and Fitzerald were likable and I have indeed, difficulty in choosing my favorite character. Of course, Flora and Julian started everything, but Cara and Abel were adorable and I'd love to know more about Fauna and Clark who are clearly meant to be!

Verdict: For short stories, Day of Sacrifice and Rebellion were a fascinating read that kept me at the edge of my seat never wanting to stop reading. It was a real bummer that we had a cliffhanger and we have to wait for April.. I want the new story now darnit! :P

Rating: About 4 and 4 1/2 stars! Don't miss the chance to read the

Flora Hamilton is three days away from turning 21. She’s also three days away from her Day of Sacrifice, the day she must give up her life in a blood-stained ritual in order to ensure the gods bless her family. With only three days left to live, she should be out partying, but a rivalling family is out to make sure Flora won’t live to see 21. Forced on the run with handsome guardian angel Julian, Flora is beginning to realize that what she has prepared for her whole life may be nothing more than a lie…. and that there’s something worth living for, after all.

Day of Sacrifice is a fast-paced romantic fantasy novella which serves mainly as a teaser into the world S.W. Benefiel is developing, a world of supernaturals, powerful families, blood-hungry gods, and an almost barbaric ritual of sacrificing one’s firstborn in order to receive the gods’ favour. Coming of age has never been worse.

Main character Flora Hamilton is not like the other sacrifices. She’s impulsive, with a vivacity of spirit that is surprising in one who has always known when and why she will die. And she is very much the type not to give up easily, even dedicating her time to learning witchcraft when many Sacrifices do not apply themselves to study. When Flora’s headstrong behaviour makes her Guardian Angel quit on the spot, it’s time for a new Guardian to step into place for the last three days of her life: Julian, the only angel she’s ever felt a connection with. But this connection may be dangerous to explore.

I enjoyed the world-building in this story, and its mixture of almost mafia families with the supernatural. There seems to be a multi-layered plot afoot, leaving you wondering how the ritual of the Day of Sacrifice came about and why the families would follow a tradition that loses them children. But as this is only a novella, much is left unexplained — if anything, Day of Sacrifice feels like a prequel to a much larger story.

While the novella does an excellent job of setting up for future books in the series, both by establishing the relationship between Julian and Flora, as well as giving insight into the Day of Sacrifice ritual, I was left a little dissatisfied, as if the story were all gravy and no meat. It doesn’t help that the progression in Julian and Flora’s relationship felt a little forced to me, a little too quick a change from her being abstinent to being in love. While the quick development of the relationship could be partially explained by Flora’s impulsiveness, I didn’t find it believable that someone as responsible as Julian would allow himself to be dragged alone. I suppose my main critique is that I didn’t find the characters as believable as the setting.

However, considering the novella’s length, Benefiel has packed an impressive amount of world-building into a short space, which will give her a lot of room to work with in the next book of the series.

In sum, if you’re looking for a bite-sized suspenseful urban fantasy tale with strong romantic elements, this might be a book for you.

Day of Sacrifice: The Prophecy (Day of Sacrifice Stories #1) by S. W. Benefiel
(Discloser: I received this eBook free in order to write a review)

Summary:
Flora is approaching her twenty first birthday. That is normally an exciting time for a young woman, but Flora isn’t normal. She is the first born in her family and, therefore, is the family sacrifice to the Gods. Her entire life has lead up to the day of her death. Her sacrifice ensures the Gods blessings on her family. Flora is a bit of a rebelled but she knows her duty. She pushes the limits to the fullest extent but she knows what will happen on her birthday. Her pure body (she’s a virgin) will be sacrificed to the Gods.

My thoughts: (Some spoilers)
For a short story, this novella was packed with a lot of story. An entire background was given for a society that contains supernatural beings (witches, werewolves, and vampires) as well as lowly humans. Included with the background for the story, a short tale was included. While I think that the background information was well done, I’m not sure that the characters were as well developed. The story happened very fast and I was unclear why chances were taken. Some of it seemed very convenient to the story. The idea of sacrifices was clearly disliked by many characters in the story but it seems that it has gone on for quite a few years. Such ingrained tradition doesn’t get challenged on a whim. There just wasn’t enough story invested to make any kind of changes. Clearly, I am implying that there is a challenge to the idea but I won’t say any more about it.
Personally, the book was too graphic with too many uses of the F word but if those things don’t bother you, then you may like this book. With all that said, I give this novella a 2 out of 5.

To be honest, I didn’t know how much I would like this novella. I didn’t know if I could become completely enthralled in a story that was a mere twenty-seven pages, but I did. And I am so happy for that.

The story grabbed my attention right when I started reading and didn’t let go until I had read every last word. The characters were well-written and enjoyable to read, I wish I could read more about them since they were such great and readable characters.

The world Benefiel has created is both a scary and a fascinating one. Every paranormal family has to sacrifice their first born child to the Gods, yet this novella shows that things don’t always turn out the way they are supposed to.

I really enjoyed the writing of this novella and I will be sure to check out more of Benefiel’s work. Her ability to captivate me in so few pages shows me that she has great promise as an author.

Be sure to check out this novella before the next in this series, Rebellion, comes out in just a few months. Also, see the cover of this novella? Well, I helped design it. So go out and read Day of Sacrifice, you will not be disappointed!

In a world where supernatural powers are inherited, this gift doesn’t come without a sacrifice. To appease the gods, the first born in every family is to remain pure and be sacrificed on the day of their 21st birthday. Day of Sacrifice is about Flora Hamilton, a young woman who is 3 days away from her sacrifice when she’s caught in the middle of a hit from a rival family. On the day her best friend Aiden Grant is to give his life to the Gods, Flora’s forced to go on the run with her sexy guardian angel only to discover that destiny has a much larger plan in store.S.W. Benefiel did a fantastic job bringing just the right amount of laughs, gasps, frisky time and conflict into this short story. The world you find as you turn the pages is a new idea and perspective on the supernatural world. The background is extensive, the characters detailed and the courage is astounding. When you know your life is ending so quickly, how do you live it to the fullest? You’ll be eager for more of Flora and will downloading Rebellion, the second installment of Day of Sacrifice, in no time!

Plot: I don’t read many short stories (I don’t really know why, either). This short story was pretty much filled non-stop action. The world you are thrown into is interesting and scary (human sacrifices = SCARY). All kinds of paranormal creatures are known and accepted (witches, vampires, werewolves, OH MY) In the short story there’s action, fighting, magic, and a little bit of steaminess ;)

Characters: I loved Flora, I felt she was SO brave for knowing she was her family’s sacrifice. I can’t even imagine trying to live my life knowing I was going to be sacrificed on my 21st birthday. She was a little reckless with her partying and what not, but I think I would just be depressed as the birthday got closer. And Julian... I need my own hot guardian angel!

Other Stuffs: Definitely not YA, has a little bit of a steamy scene. I was impressed with how much I really liked it (since I don’t really read many short stories) and how quickly I was immersed into the world.

I am very happy I came across this novella, it was absolutely enthralling. It had me hooked from the first page. The action, story, characters all very entertaining. As I was reading through this I saw great potential in this story line and how it could become a fantastic series and built upon. I found that I really wanted to get inside some of the other characters heads besides the main one, Flora. I wanted to be at that meeting when the father found out something had gone wrong, what he was thinking about his daughter. I wanted to be inside Fauna's head as she watched Flora get shot. And most importantly the blow by blow of what Aiden and Julian were experiencing as well. There are some pretty steamy sex scenes and some swearing, but they were some heart pounding well written scenes at that!
I hope that in the next stories I get to see more of the world, maybe meet some other witches, vampires, guardians etc. Completely awesome and has tremendous potential for full length novel/series.

I sincerely enjoyed reading this novella. It was similar in theme to Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson and if anyone knows me, they know I'm obsessed with Sanderson's work.

However, the thing I love about Sanderson is he knows when a work is stand-alone. Even though it is obvious the story continues due to how Day of Sacrifice ends... I felt it ended in a way that it could have been a stand-alone. There just aren't enough good stand-alone fantasy these days!

All in all, a good read that I wish wasn't part of a series because I felt the storyline was wrapped up for me in a short story sort of way.

I laughed, but I'm not sure I was supposed to. The premise has potential but the execution was flawed.

A lot of proofreading is needed, primarily to tackle run on sentences and poor punctuation. A lot of fleshing out is required to transform the angel into a believable character. A lot more introspection from and communication between the protagonists could lend credibility to the plot.

As it is, it's hard to imagine someone throwing away their family's future (no matter what ingrates they may be) and taking on the Gods, based on a two minute conversation and a bit of lust. Writing shorts that pack a punch requires, IMHO, more finesse than writing an effective longer book. With fewer words, every one counts.

Unfortunately, in this case, short just means underdeveloped.

In a genre awash with werewolves or immortal bloodsuckers - this was an interesting change-ish.

This first book is more of a quick introduction to the series. We're introduced to the Characters, the Supernatural Society and the Conspiracy. It's a combination of action, suspense and hot romance.

There was a significant lack of detail - MUCH MORE ought to have been included to flesh the plot and characters out. I hope the non-free sequels will provide that. The story requires depth otherwise it's immensely entertaining for a SHORT read.

====================
The Characters
Heroine: Flora Hamilton is a soon to be a 21 year old Sacrifice. The Gods decree that they require a Young & Virginal Sacrifice and unfortunately for her She's It. Being a Sacrifice doesn't equate to Eternal Bliss once dead - the poor Souls are then kept by the excessively Greedy Gods. Of course there's a few twists (the story would be even shorter than this if she just died).
She's sassy, funny, and a powerful witch in the making. Growing up knowing you'll be sacrificed at 21 isn't easy and hence she acts up but she's not a pathetic immature type either.

Hero: Julian is a Guardian Angel. As per his description he's naturally protective and kind. Not the tall, dark handsome brooding rich cliche type either. There's no "I'm so dark my soul is BLACK" Byronic posturing either (that cr*ap pi$$es me off - almost every hero is a DAMAGED HERO).

======================
The Story:
I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this but the concept was different. It's also quite disturbing, thankfully the author doesn't go into the sacrifice bit so much. But just be warned, unlike many Vampire themed romances - where you don't really consider the feelings of the victims the Vampire may have used previously (we're all so de-sensitized by it - the glamour I guess) in this book you do care about the life. The image of a young person on a stone slab waiting to be sacrificed - blood drained, organs taken out is pretty horrific. I wasn't really expecting that.

However, don't worry - it's not all blood and gore. And the author is subtle enough not to frighten you.

The concept of people being so greedy that they'd sacrifice their own child so that they can be blessed with the riches in life isn't anything new. If we look at many child stars (Lindsay Lohan, MJ, Britney etc) there is a subtle parallel sans blood and gore.

The parents, siblings and wider community have conditioned themselves to consider this sacrifice normal. In fact Flora's own parents deny her the right to an identity (her father calls her The Sacrifice) in order to distance themselves - dehumanizing her in order to avoid feeling even basic empathy let alone any love and affection. A sort of parallel can be drawn in today's world in how we in society can desensitize/disconnect from the dangerous and often inhumane practices others in the Third/ Developing World suffer in order to make our cheap clothes or grow our agriculture. A sacrifice for our well-being.
I don't think the author intended her work to have such a profound meaning (well I suspect not) but it really did make me think.

This was a pretty good story. Even though this was a short story, it would have been nice if the author explained some things in more detail. So in that regard, I do have a few questions:

1. Why did they want the favor of the Gods? Apparently there was a war and the supernaturals won against the humans. Okay...and? How did any of that come about? Where did the Gods come from?

2. When Flora finds out from her sister that their father's deal with the Fitzgerald's went south, why would the Fitzgerald's want to kill Flora, their Sacrifice? I didn't really understand that part.

3. I understand that being a Sacrifice was suppose to be a big deal, they're helping their family and all that...but why would anyone want to actually see it all take place? A naked person strapped down, being bleed? Was that really suppose to be exciting to anyone besides the family? (As long as they weren't attached to the Sacrifice that is.)

4. When Flora is in her hotel room still, having just defeated (for now) the bad guy with the gun. She gets into the elevator and uses her foot to press all the buttons. With all the floor buttons pressed, how does she manage to get to the lobby in a minute? Shouldn't the elevator be stopping at every floor?

5. I find it funny that given Julian's a Guardian Angel, he curses!

6. So when it comes to the Gods, they get the blood of the Sacrifice, and what exactly does the family get? Their favor obviously, but what does that entail?

7. If a lot of families (like Flora's) stay unattached to their Sacrifice, why not just keep all the Sacrifices together in one place? They might get treated like crap by their families, but if they were others like themselves, at least they'd have a better time.

8. The relationship between Flora and Julian seems to move way too fast. Not sure if it's because of the short story or what though?! It's like he's known Flora since she was born, so why is he suddenly all interested in her, in that way?

9. When Flora refers to Julian as "sugarwings", I hadn't even realized at first that that was suppose to be an endearment. haha I thought maybe sugarwings were some kind of apple or something.

10. If Julian has wings, yet the guy's at the marketplace don't know he's an angel at first. I only read about him 'unfurling' his wings, what exactly does that mean? Do they disappear till he needs them?

11. While Flora and Julian are fighting the bad guys... "it was only fair that she not kill them straight away".... yet she has a flash of panic because she's worried they might end up being burned alive. How else was she planning on killing them then? If not with her fire?

12. Why would the supernatural's not want to stop the Sacrifices? Again I guess it might have to do with whatever it is the God's give the families. But again I don't know, because that was never explained.

Either way I like this story and went bought the rest in the series. I probably just asked enough questions to make up a good chuck of this story, given it's size. haha

Flora is three days away from her 21st birthday, a momentus miles stone as that is the day she is to be sacrificed to the gods. Her guardian angel is not impressed with her behavior and leaves her alone, something a guardian should never do. Little does Flora know that her estranged father has started a feud with a business partner and put Flora’s life in imminent danger. If she is not sacrificed on her 21st birthday her family will lose much more than their first-born daughter.

As Flora runs for her life a sacrificed friend’s guardian angel, Julian, comes to her rescue and together their long admiration for each other turns into something more. But, there are more challenges ahead for Flora as she comes to terms with her own witch powers and the truth behind her father’s betrayal.

Day of Sacrifice is a short read and leaves you wanting more. The pace moves quickly from one scene to the next without any loss of depth to the characters or storyline. The world is very interesting as its filled with angels, witches and vampires. In this first novella I would have enjoyed learning more about this world and how human sacrifices came about in this society as the sacrifical scenes brought to mind images of Central American rituals. Rebellion is the second installment which I am currently reading and hoping to find some of my questions answered.

The book does contain descriptive love scenes and is not really age appropriate for young readers.

Day Of Sacrifice by S.W. Benefiel
Book 1
In the world of the supernaturals they have been giving their first born up so their family can prosper. When the first born hits their 21st birthday...it's all over. Flora Hamilton is three days away and it looks like her last days are going to tough ones. Her friend Aiden is twenty-one today, she ticked her Guardian off and has been left alone...which is a big no no...her twin sister has been trying to get hold her all night because there is a hit out for Flora. So it looks like she is on the run and at the moment alone.

Julian is happy that Aiden is the last sacrifice he had to guard. It's too hard walking them to their death. He's ready to go back to his family's homestead and relax...only it looks like one more sacrifice needs saving before she dies in three days. What could he do but grab the beautiful Flora and bring her to safety...or is being with him not so safe?

This is a free book. It's a quick read and just the opening for the next books in the series:
Rebellion, Dormant and Takeover.
**Sensual situations and language.
