The Rake and the Redhead

Rate this book
A reissued story originally published in 1994 under the name Emily Hendrickson.

When beautiful, redheaded Miss Hyacinthe Dancy meets Blase, Lord Norwood, she finds him to be the most infuriatingly arrogant gentleman she has ever met. Hyacinthe vows to keep well clear of a man whose charm is as legendary as his reputation. But when Lord Norwood decides to destroy a charming old village to improve the view from his manor, and Hyacinthe's dearest friend is threatened with homelessness, Hyacinthe must place herself in Norwood's path of desire. Norwood then sets out to level not only the village but Hyacinthe's defenses, and Hyacinthe finds that he has the power to ignite far more than her temper.

A pseudonym used by Doris Emily Hendrickson.

Many of my books were re-published in England by Robert Hale Publishing House of London. My publisher requested that I use three pseudonyms for my English hard cover books.

I chose the names: Emily Hendrickson, Emily Johnson, and Emily Harland.

This was a cute mystery romance novel which reminds me a little of the Nancy Drew style, if she was living in the victorian period and wore a corsette. There is a mystery, but it is figured out early on so there is little to no suspense. I was a little bored. If they had added a hot smex scene or two... But the characters are sweet and a bit funny like when the hero gets his clothes ruined and torn off.
