A phone call from the woman he loved twenty years before plunges Twin City anchorman Alex Collier into an investigation of Emmett Steele, a judge about to be confirmed for the Minnesota Supreme Court. Reprint.
Here's another book/author I discovered by rule of thumb (choosing books only if they are fatter than my thumb when I hold it sideways against the spine). And the rule has spawned another great find. Alex Collier is a TV anchor man - pretty to look at and working his way up the TV ladder by moving from station to station. But, when he hits Minneapolis things change, he changes. Emmett Steele is one of the areas most powerful men and has just been nominated to chief justice of the state supreme court. Alex finds out that Steele is filling his spare hours raping and torturing young boys. But pretty TV anchor boys don't do investigative stories. It's a great tale - treat yourself. I'm off to find another Handberg.
Chief Judge Emmett Steele is a powerful, demented man on his way to becoming Minnesota's Supreme Court Justice. For years he has held a tight rein over the courts and judges that work under him while sexually abusing children in his home. In the same town, Alex Collier, a popular news anchorman still reeling from his recent divorce, is just beginning a new job at the Minneapolis channel seven news station. Alex has no idea just how dangerous his new job is when he decides to expose the judge's true nature and make him pay for his crimes. Based on actual events, Savage Justice is a non-stop thrill ride that takes the reader step-by-step through the process of how investigative journalists risk everything for the story and justice. In this case, Savage Justice.
This was the book chosen for our book club’s February meeting it was written by the brother of one of our members. This story was based on real events and a corrupt judge in Minnesota. It was a very engrossing story that makes you think deeply about corruption in the Judiciary.
